Why are They Speaking English?

There is a potential issue that one might notice with shows that one probably doesn’t actually care about. You see, there are a lot of shows that aren’t set in America and should have people speaking in a language other than English. But they aren’t doing that. They are speaking English. Why is that?

Well, simply put, it would probably annoy people to constantly read subtitles all the time and not just have it naturally set in the language that they are used to. And that’s not all. Movies do this too and it is fine with people. This is probably just due to what’s easiest for everyone.

Should this change? Does this even matter? I’d argue no for both counts. People are okay and quite used to hearing things in English even though it shouldn’t logically be that way. We don’t even need there to be an explanation behind it. We just need to understand what is going on.

Will things ever change? Some people would get annoyed if shows are largely in another language and they have to keep looking at what is being said over and over again. Treadstone did this, but didn’t last very long. I have no idea what correlation there might have been between the two events. But I would have to say that this isn’t something that people care about and fewer still would even notice.

This will probably be my last Tuesday post for a while at least in the semi-weekly schedule that I had been doing some from time to time. The largely weekly ones on Saturdays will stay intact and don't forget about all of the other ones that will happen in the future as well (hopefully).
