Cancelled Shows 2017-2018

First off, I’d like to apologize that this is as late as it is. There were different complications with when to update this blog and when I’d have time to write this post. I ultimately decided to wait until I had seen the endings of two of the shows on this list that took a long while to get caught up on. But these reviews are finally here so I hope that you enjoy them. I’ve already decided to just wait on any of the summer shows that ended in 2018 will be just in the next post and not mentioned once here, except for one that I felt was notable enough. At least I could get Timeless in here after its official finale and not just before the finale movie was on. That’s the only upside to this being written so late.

Law & Order: True Crime: Why I’ve seen it- I saw this since an alumni from The Good Wife is in this. Noteworthiness- This is inspired by a true case and is also part of the Law and Order franchise. Description- It is about a real crime committed by two abused brothers against their abusive parents. Notable People- Josh Charles, former star of The Good Wife, is in this show as well. Pros- It addresses serious concepts. Cons- It seems to do too much at once by trying to cover all the angles. Also, the plot is very grim, grimmer than SVU even. Note to Parents- Don’t let kids watch this. Recommendation- I’d put this at a toss-up. I probably wouldn’t want to watch it long term. My Viewing Habits- I only watched it once online. Cancellation reasons- It had too low ratings and there wasn’t enough interest in it. It could return in the future with a new cast and case, but I doubt that it would. People can get these stories from other places. Similar shows: Law and Order: SVU, American Crime Story, and The Blacklist. DVD suggestion- I wouldn’t get it. Reception: mixed. Grade: C-.

New Girl: Why I’ve seen it- I thought that it might be good and I like the actress who plays the main character. Noteworthiness- Before its cancellation, it was the longest running live action sitcom on FOX. Now that designation goes to Brooklyn Nine-Nine, if you count its change of network, Last Man Standing if you count when it aired on ABC, or any of the new comedies since they cleared house on their sitcoms last season. Description- After breaking up with her live-in cheating boyfriend, Jess, the new girl, moves into a new place with four guys. Also in the cast is Jess’s best friend. Notable People- Zooey Deschanel, known for being in various movies, is the main character. Pros- The show is quite funny most of the time with the quirky characters that it has. Cons- As usual, bad morals are present like sex and stuff like that. Some of the acting is over the top, but that’s more due to the personality of the characters of the show instead of bad acting. Note to Parents- There have been occasions where this airs with an advisory warning, although most of it seems acceptable to me for those how are in high school, but not much younger than that. Recommendation- I’d say that you should watch it if you have the time. My Viewing Habits- I’ve had an on and off relationship with this show, sometimes watching it and sometimes giving over shows priority over it. I have been a fan of this since episode one. Cancellation reasons- It was a combination of actors wanting to move on, the show lasting too long to still be cheap for the network, and people just feeling that it was time to end it. Similar shows- Will and Grace, The Big Bang Theory, and Single Parents. DVD suggestion- This might be worth getting if you like it and shows like it. I might not get it simply because I have enough already. Reception: generally positive. Grade: B.

American Grit: Why I’ve seen it- I was going to watch it when it first aired, but I felt I didn’t have enough time for it then. I’ve decided to watch it the second time around since it largely worked out that time around. Description- Four teams of four compete to get a prize by doing various tough competitions. Pros- If you like most reality shows that air on network TV, then you’d probably like this too. Cons- It falls victim to far too many reality clichés (people fighting, self-centered people) and doesn’t seem as tough for people as other reality shows are. Note to Parents- This may be good in some ways but bad in others. You’d have to watch to know for sure. Recommendation- I’d say that it might be worth watching, but I don’t know if you can see it now anyways. My Viewing Habits- I tuned into this partway into the 2nd season and stayed with it until the end. Cancellation reasons- While this wasn’t officially cancelled, it is not coming back for future seasons and thus over as a result. I’d have to say that there wasn’t enough interest in the show for it to keep airing. Similar shows- Survivor and Big Brother. DVD suggestion- I don’t think that there are DVDs of this. Even then, I’m not sure that as a fan of the show that I would get them anyways. Reception: good. Grade: C-.

10 Days in the Valley: Why I’ve seen it- It looked good and interesting so I thought that I would watch it. Description- A woman’s daughter goes missing and we spend time with everyone related to her life in a period of ten days. Notable People- Kyra Sedgwick, most notable for her role in The Closer, is the star of this show. Pros- It is pretty good and interesting. Cons- It runs the risk of being too mysterious at times. Note to Parents- You probably shouldn’t let your young kids watch this, but teens should be fine with it. Recommendation: See later in this post. My Viewing Habits- I saw it since it first aired and watched the rest of it, for the most part, outside of part of one episode. Cancellation reasons- There are many factors that lead into it ending. Part of the reason was that it was a serialized drama and that often doesn’t last on network TV. Another was that the show was delayed a lot in airing and could have aired in the spring of 2017 instead of the fall. Yet another factor that determined its fate was that it seemed like more of a short term type of show anyways. Similar shows- none. DVD suggestion- This is out and you should get it if you can. It’s only a ten episode commitment. Reception: generally favorable. Grade: A-.

Steve Harvey’s Funderdome: Why I’ve seen it- It looked interesting enough for me so I watched it. Description- Entrepreneurs with similar ideas compete against each other to fund their projects. Notable People- This is hosted by the talented Steve Harvey who also hosts Family Feud and a talk show. Pros- This is pretty entertaining. It is fun to see all of the ideas that people have. Cons- It seems like ABC has enough of these types of shows already. Plus, the idea that someone could wind up with nothing or someone could cash out and miss out on the prize they would have gotten seem pretty dumb. Note to Parents- I don’t think that there is much wrong with this in terms of content for kids. Recommendation- I say that this is good enough to watch. My Viewing Habits- I have seen some episodes, but not all of them. I do watch at times. Cancellation reasons- I’m not even sure that this was cancelled. I just think that it ended by never returning with new episodes. There must not have been enough interest in it to keep people around. Similar show: Shark Tank. DVD suggestion- There won’t be any, as far as I know. If it is released, it could be good, but all the episodes seem alike. Reception: good. Grade: B.

Candy Crush: Why I’ve seen it- I normally watch a CBS show at least once. Noteworthiness- This is based on the popular Candy Crush app. Description- Teams of players compete in different versions of this game in order to win money. Notable People- Mario Lopez, who also hosts Extra, hosts this show. Pros- The game is simple and fairly straightforward. It seemed crazy yet kind of good and interesting. Cons- The puzzles could use some work on. It doesn’t seem entirely fair in every way. Note to Parents- There is nothing wrong with this in terms of what kids can watch. Recommendation- This is probably good, provided that you like game shows and can follow this without multitasking. My Viewing Habits- I saw this sometimes, but not all the time. Cancellation reasons- I’m not entirely sure that it was officially cancelled or if it just never came back. What I do know is that tons of people hated it and they didn’t watch it either. Similar show: Hollywood Game Night. DVD suggestion- There won’t be any and it is not worth it anyways. Reception: bad. Grade: B-. It doesn’t really have a replacement, being a summer show at all. The show that came closest to replacing it was probably TKO.

The Toy Box: Why I’ve seen it- I was interested in it for reasons I can’t remember as well. I think that it was the only show that I cared about at the time when it started. Noteworthiness- It had a tie-in to Toys R Us. Description- In its two seasons, there were some differences with how things were done. But what always remained the same was that toymakers tried to get children to pick which of their toys was the best. Notable People- Eric Stonestreet, who is a cast member of Modern Family, hosts this show as well. Pros- The toys are interesting and the kids had nice personalities that worked well for the show. Cons- Part of the design of the first season seemed flawed as it seemed pointless to keep it secret that kids would be the ones to grade the projects. It could come off as like an advertisement and only one toy the whole season was actually the winner. Note to Parents- This is a rare primetime show that is targeted to kids so it is fine if they want to watch it. Recommendation- I’d say that this isn’t too bad a way to spend your time, but there are better shows out there. My Viewing Habits- I don’t think that I saw all of it, but I saw most of it, especially the second season. Cancellation reasons- When Toys R Us went bankrupt, the future of this show was put in doubt. Thus, while it may not be officially cancelled, it is probably over unless a different sponsor picks it up. Similar show: Shark Tank. DVD suggestion- I don’t think that there will be any DVDs, nor would I think that they would be worth having. Reception: bad. Grade: B.

Living Biblically- Why I’ve seen it- I like to watch most CBS shows at least once. Noteworthiness- This is based off of a real life book that a real person once did. Description- A man decides to live his life according to the bible, much to the chagrin of everyone who knows him. Pros- I’m glad that it wasn’t trying to make Christianity look bad. The man is trying to be a better person in this and uses the bible as a basis. Cons- The show didn’t work well as it wasn’t funny and they failed in their mission to make religion look good. Note to Parents- This might work well in terms of what is good and isn’t, although it can be hard to tell based on just the one episode of it that I saw. Recommendation- I’d pass on this. My Viewing Habits- I only saw this once and wasn’t interested in seeing it again. Cancellation reasons- The ratings were too low and that’s why it didn’t last. Similar shows- The Good Place. DVD suggestion- I would not get it, although I doubt it will be out on DVD anyways. Reception: mixed to negative. Grade: D. It was replaced by half of Magnum P.I.

Life Sentence: Why I’ve seen it- Whenever it works out, I watch a new CW show. Description- A woman finds out that she is cured of cancer and has to deal with her carefree lifestyle from when she thought she was dying. Notable People- Dylan Walsh, who was from Unforgettable, is a character on this show. Pros- The plot works. The situation seems to work for the most part. Cons- This show seems to have the usual flawed characters (only they aren’t as bad as other shows are). To me, the ending to it made no sense at all. Note to Parents- This has the standard amount of what is and isn’t acceptable for kids and teens to watch. It wasn’t too bad in terms of what they could watch with you being okay with it since not much was bad about it. Recommendation- Watch it if you care, otherwise, don’t bother with it. My Viewing Habits- I missed some of the earlier episodes, but when I could, I stuck with it until the very end of the show. Cancellation reasons- The ratings were bad and the move from Wednesdays to Fridays were this show’s death sentence. Plus, it premiered too late in the season for it to have a chance on this network. Similar shows- The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, The Goldbergs, and Modern Family. DVD suggestion- I’d pass on this, even though part of it was good. I don’t think that this will be DVD in the first place, though. Reception: mixed or average. Grade: D+. This was replaced by the returning final season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Wisdom of the Crowd: Why I’ve seen it- It’s a CBS show and I often watch all of those at least once if and when I can. Description- A person creates technology to help ordinary people solve crimes. Pros- It seemed good and interesting enough. It tries to be different. Cons- It can seem like the same old type of crime show. Also, it seems like CBS is trying to recreate Person of Interest in a way with this. Note to Parents- This wasn’t too bad in terms of quality of what you would expect from most shows nowadays. Recommendation- I think that it was fairly good. My Viewing Habits- I didn’t see every episode, but I did see this from the beginning until the end. Cancellation reasons- Despite relatively good ratings, when there were allegations revealed against its star Jeremy Pivon, the network decided not to order anymore new episodes, essentially ending the show. Similar show- MacGyver DVD suggestion- I don’t think that there will be DVDs. Even if there are, this isn’t that good a show. Reception: generally unfavorable. Grade: C. Its replacement was first Instinct then God Friended Me.

Me, Myself, and I: Why I’ve seen it- I normally always watch a CBS show at least once. Description- This is the story of a person’s life at three different stages, old, middle aged, and young. Notable People- Bobby Monahan from Saturday Night Live plays the middle version of the main character. Pros- It is different and works. Cons- I think that its main flaw is presenting itself as a comedy when it would work better as a drama. Note to Parents- There were the usual problems with it, but not too much wrong with it. Recommendation- I’d watch what remains of this while you can. My Viewing Habits- Due to issues with watching multiple things at once, I gave this up for a while until the issue was resolved. I saw what I could of the rest of the show. Cancellation reasons- The ratings were low enough. Similar shows- none. DVD suggestion- I don’t think that there will be any, but it might be good if you can find them. Reception: mixed. Grade: C. Its replacement was first the returning Man with a Plan before being Happy Together, if only for a while.

Better Late Than Never: Why I’ve seen it- I thought that it might be interesting. Noteworthiness- It is adapted from a foreign show. In an unusual event, its first season was summer of 2016 and second was winter of 2018. Description- A reality show, it has four older men and one younger “sidekick” visiting foreign countries as part of a bucket list journey. Notable People- This has William Shatner, known for his role on Star Trek. It also has Henry Winkler, most well known for his role on Happy Days. Pros- The show is informative about different countries. Cons- The format is overall pretty strange. Note to Parents- What’s I’ve seen of this is pretty acceptable for kids to watch. There might be some things that aren’t okay, but probably not too much. Recommendation- I think that most people would like it. My viewing habits- I watch this when it works out, but don’t care that much if I miss it or not. Cancellation reasons- My guess is that not enough people watched it or cared that much about it. Plus, if the people involved with the show weren’t interested in doing this again, then more seasons weren’t going to be made. Similar show: The Cool Kids. DVD suggestion- I don’t know if there will be DVDs or not. If there are, it might be good as it won’t be that many episodes to watch. Reception: good. Grade: C+.

The Middle: Why I’ve seen it- Survivor was on hiatus (this show used to air on Wednesday) and I heard this was good. Noteworthiness- It was tied with Modern Family as longest running ABC comedy still on the air. It actually started a half hour before Modern Family did, if I have my information right. I don’t know if the return of Roseanne complicates things. Description- The comedy adventures of an ordinary family in Indiana. Notable People- Patricia Heaton, who was Debra from Everybody Loves Raymond, is the mother. Neil Flynn, from Scrubs, is the father of the show. Pros- It is quite funny from time to time. The youngest kid’s quirkiness is humorous. Cons- Some inappropriate stuff comes up sometimes. However, the show is typically always PG so it’s not as bad as it could be. Note to Parents- This is probably more acceptable than a lot of other shows in terms of content, but I’d ultimately watch it for yourself to make a decision. Recommendation- I say that you should watch this show if you can. My Viewing Habits- I have had a hard time keeping up with this show and have seen most of it due to syndicated repeats. I am planning on sticking with it until the end. Cancellation reasons- Pretty much everyone involved in the show wanted it to end so they had a final season to send it off and wrap up what all they wanted to. Similar shows- The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, American Housewife, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, and Schooled. DVD suggestion- I’d consider getting this if you aren’t just able to get all the episodes in repeats. Reception: positive. Grade: B+.

Scorpion: Why I’ve seen it- I thought that I might like it. Noteworthiness- This is inspired by the real life of Walter O’Brian. How much of it is fictionalized is unknown, but guessed to be a lot. Description- This show is about Walter O’Brian and a team of geniuses that he leads. Notable People- Robert Patrick from the Unit is on this show. Pros- It’s a pretty interesting drama and it not being the typical drama makes it better. Cons- The show has a predictable format. It can be overdramatized. Some of it is hard to believe. The ending was stupid. Note to Parents- This probably isn’t full of objectionable material that you’d typically see in a primetime drama. Sex is usually not present and violence in it is typically at a minimum. Recommendation- I like it and suggest that other people watch it. My Viewing Habits- I’m not sure if I’ve seen all of this, but I have been watching this since its first episode. Cancellation reasons- This came as a surprise to many as it seemed like tradition would keep it around. But for one reason or another that we may never truly know why, CBS cancelled it. Similar shows- MacGyver and The Big Bang Theory. DVD suggestion- I personally wouldn’t get this due to the dumb way that things ended on the show and may never watch the show again unless somehow plots are resolved. Reception: mixed. Grade: C-. Keeping track of its replacement is a bit difficult. I’d say that its main and official replacement is FBI.

The Crossing: Why I’ve seen it- I thought that it looked good and interesting. Description- People time travel from the future to our time in order to escape a war from genetically modified humans who also travelled back. Pros- It seems pretty interesting. Cons- It can be more mysterious for its own good. It ended on a cliffhanger. Note to Parents- There are a lot of bad content in here that kids should not be exposed to. Most of it relates to violence such as torture and even murder. Recommendation- I might have recommended this at one point, but due to its ending, I’d suggest that people avoid this. My Viewing Habits- It is possible that I saw every episode of this, although I might have missed some here and there. Cancellation reasons- The ratings were the problem as usual so they got rid of it as a result. Similar shows- Manifest and The Passage. DVD suggestion- If there are any, don’t get them. Reception: mixed. Grade: D.

Lucifer: Why I’ve seen it- Promise to watch one midseason show from each network and the thought that it might be interesting. Noteworthiness- This is adapted from a comic book. Description- For some odd reason, the devil, known as Lucifer, decides to help people solve crimes, although that is based on just my limited perspective on the show. Pros- The show is different than the usual show. It can also be kind of interesting. Cons- It is hard to tell entirely what this show is about. It seems kind of dumb and lame. The lead actor seems quite terrible to me and portrays this character badly, although it could be poorly written as well or instead. Note to Parents- This is probably safe for teenagers, but not much younger. I can’t give good advice to parents having not seen most episodes. Just know that it doesn’t glorify Satan because it makes him seem rather lame. Recommendation- I wouldn’t watch it. My Viewing Habits- I only watched this once and have no interest in seeing it again. Special note- While FOX did cancel the show, Netflix picked it up for more seasons. Thus, it isn’t really over yet, even if it is sort of cancelled for a time. Similar shows- Gotham, Legends of Tomorrow, and Roswell, New Mexico. DVD suggestion- Don’t get them. Reception: mixed to positive. Grade: D.

Valor: Why I’ve seen it- I watch a CW show at least once when I can. Description- This is a military show about a woman serving as the first pilot in the military. Pros- There are interesting parts to it. Cons- The acting is a bit weak. It doesn’t seem to offer much to it. Note to Parents- It wasn’t as bad as other shows like it, but there are some things in here that you don’t want your kids exposed to. Recommendation- I think that it’s a good enough show. My Viewing Habits- Due to recording issues, I wasn’t able to get into this show at first. But then I could watch it and stuck with it until the very end. Cancellation reasons- The ratings of it sucked so they never ordered more episodes. Similar show: SEAL Team. DVD suggestion- This might be worth it if there are DVDs out. Reception: generally unfavorable. Grade: C. The show that wound up replacing it was the returning iZombie which became Legacies. I am not going to keep track of further schedule changes beyond that as that is for other posts.

Superior Donuts: Why I’ve seen it- As usual, it was because this is on CBS. Noteworthiness- This is based on a play of the same name. Description- This is a comedy show about people in a donut shop. Notable People- This show features Katey Sagel from Married… with Children, 8 Simple Rules, Futurama, A to Z, and Sons of Anarchy. Pros- This might be liked by fans of 2 Broke Girls. Cons- The show was really lame and uncreative. It didn’t really offer much. Note to Parents- I don’t think there’s much to worry about this except for possibly offensive stereotypes. Recommendation- Don’t watch this. My Viewing Habits- I saw this once and won’t be seeing it a second time. Cancellation reasons- Its end came as a shock to some people and doesn’t make that much sense in the end. But I think that it was most likely a lack of further interest in the show or simple low ratings. Similar shows- Bob’s Burgers, Schooled, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. DVD suggestion- If there are any, don’t get it. Reception: mixed. Grade: D. It was replaced by half of Magnum P.I.

Tavis Smiley: Why I’ve seen it- I guess that it was on and I was interested in it for some reason. There must not have been something else on at the time I saw it. Noteworthiness- This was hosted by the 1st black man to host an NPR show. Description- This is basically a talk show with more political people as it is on PBS. Pros- You can learn a lot from this show. Cons- It doesn’t seem as interesting as it should be in the end. Note to Parents- Whether or not you let your kids watch this depends on whether or not you let them watch the news on a regular basis, although this probably isn’t as bad as a lot of what you see on the news is. Recommendation- This is a good show in my mind. My Viewing Habits- I haven’t seen as much as this as I would like due to odd airing times. Cancellation reasons- This was a highly rated show on PBS so you might wonder what went wrong? Well, Tavis was fired after alleged sexual misconduct and his show was cancelled as a result. Some think that the allegations were overblown in some way and that it was more rule breaking instead that he got in trouble for. Whatever the reason, he is gone now. Similar show: Amanpour and Company. DVD suggestion- I don’t think that there are any, but if there are, it might be good. Reception: mixed. Grade: B.

Original review of Tavis Smiley with now outdated information: Tavis Smiley: Show history- The first black person to host an NPR show makes the switch to TV (although his radio show might still exist as well). What’s it about- Tavis Smiley interviews various people. Why I’ve seen it- I was interested in it at the time. My viewing habits- I have seen a few episodes here and there, but not too much of it due to its weird airtimes. Where it aired- It airs on PBS. What I liked about it- The show is very informative and interesting. What I didn’t like about it- Not everyone on it is as notable as one would like. More thoughts on it- I probably have not seen as much of this as I would like, yet I’m also not sure what I’d get out of this that I wouldn’t get out of other shows. Current fate- This show is actually still on the air with new episodes on PBS. DVD suggestion- This isn’t on DVD so a suggestion is not needed. It might be good if it were. Grade: B.

Hooten and the Lady: Why I’ve seen it- I tend to watch a CW show at least once, even though this was originally on a foreign network, if we are being technical. Noteworthiness- This is a British TV show that is airing here in America for the first time. Description- A shady man and a more trustworthy woman seeking artifacts go on strange adventures together. Pros- It is a fun and good show that seems mostly realistic. Cons- It had crazy plots. There was a bit of a cliffhanger ending. Note to Parents- There wasn’t too much wrong with it, but there was enough that people younger than teens shouldn’t be exposed to in this. Recommendation- I think that it is good and worth watching. My Viewing Habits- I might have seen all of this or close to it. Cancellation reasons- While it aired on the CW, since it was originally a Sky show in the UK, when they were done with it, the CW had no interest in continuing it on its own. Similar shows- none. DVD suggestion- I would get this, if there are DVDs of it. Reception: positive. Grade: B+. Its replacement was either The Outpost or Burden of Truth.

Kevin Can Wait: Why I’ve seen it- I almost always watch a CBS show at least once. Description- It seems to be about a man who just retired, or wanted to, at least, but it could be about any number of things that could evolve over time. Notable People- Kevin James, who was on King of Queens before starring in many movies, is the main character of this show. Gary Valentine, also from King of Queens, is another character. Leah Remini, also a former star of King of Queens in addition to once co-hosting The Talk, is yet another character. Pros- It isn’t bad. Enough about it is quality entertainment. It is funny a lot of the time. You know what to expect. Cons- A lot of the plots are weaker than they should be. There are too many people in the cast. It can be rather dumb at times. It might have been better starting out. Note to Parents- Considering all the smut that you might be used to, this is actually much more acceptable for most ages. Recommendation- I’d put this at a toss-up myself. You may like it and if you don’t, it’s not like there’s that much of a long story that people care about. My Viewing Habits- I might have missed some episodes here and there, but I have more or less watched this from the very beginning. There was a time that I had given it up, but it didn’t last too long. Cancellation reasons- There was a lot against this going into its second season such as the controversial and unnecessary firing of an actress. While it did seem likely to stick around regardless, for one reason or another, the network decided to get rid of it in the end. Similar shows- Schooled and Young Sheldon. DVD suggestion- I wouldn’t bother with this, although I’m not sure that it’s out on DVD anyways. Reception: generally negative. Grade: B-. It was replaced by The Neighborhood.

Timeless: Why I’ve seen it- I was interested in it and I wanted to watch a new fall NBC show at the time. Noteworthiness- This was once cancelled for three days before being brought back. Rumor has it that it was due to fan revolt, but that’s not true. It was due to a Sony deal. Description- Three people seek to prevent an evil company from changing history. Pros- The show has interesting plots that keep you into it. Cons- The show can be confusing at times. Note to Parents- There is enough in here that younger people shouldn’t be watching. Most of it is okay, though, but it has problems with sex and violence, like you might expect. Recommendation- I’d watch this and think that you should too. My Viewing Habits- I had planned to watch this from the start, but due to reception problems, had to wait until later episodes in the first season. I then stuck with it until the very end. Cancellation reasons- The ratings were too low and it didn’t last as a result. Similar show: Legends of Tomorrow. DVD suggestion- I’d recommend this as a show to get on DVD. Reception: generally positive. Grade: B.

Battle of the Network Stars: Why I’ve seen it- I guess I just wanted to see if this was worthwhile and nothing else I cared about was on at the time I saw it. Noteworthiness- This is a reboot. Description- Different celebrities compete in weird games. Notable People- The people who are on this show have some varying degree of fame. Pros- It is simple and easy enough to follow. Cons- This didn’t seem to offer much of anything. It seemed about as lame as the average sport game. Note to Parents- I don’t know what to say here. It might be okay in most aspects. Recommendation- I’d pass on this. My Viewing Habits- I only watched this once and don’t plan on seeing it again. Cancellation reasons- This wasn’t an official cancellation as it wasn’t ever brought back for future seasons. I guess that not enough people cared for it. Similar shows- none. DVD suggestion- If there are any, don’t get it as it isn’t worthwhile in the end. Reception: good. Grade: D-.

9JKL: Why I’ve seen it- I watch a CBS show at least once most of the time. Noteworthiness- The main star who is also the creator of this based this off of his own life in a way. He and his wife created this show together. Description- A man lives in an apartment building right next to other family members of his leading to wild antics as usual. Notable People- This stars Liza Lapira who starred in NCIS, Dollhouse, Traffic Light, Super Fun Night, Don’t Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23, Battle Creek, and Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life, among other things. Pros- One would know what to expect from a show like this. Cons- This has about all the bad stuff that you would typically find in a sitcom like amoral characters. The writing and acting could use some work. The side characters can be dumb. Note to Parents- This has what you might expect in terms of what is and isn’t acceptable for kids to watch. Recommendation- I’d put this at a toss-up. I watch it, but I wouldn’t be upset if I missed it. My Viewing Habits- I’ve missed some of this due to not caring as much about it as I could. But I do tend to watch it whenever I can. Cancellation reasons- The network didn’t care about it that much so they decided to just get rid of it in the end. Similar shows- The Big Bang Theory, Bob’s Burgers, and Modern Family. DVD suggestion- If there are any, this isn’t that good so don’t bother with it. Reception: generally unfavorable. Grade: C. It was first replaced by Living Biblically then half of Magnum P.I.

The Last Man on Earth: Why I’ve seen it- It looked interesting and it fit in with my schedule. Description- After a virus decimates the human population, only a handful of people remain. Believe it or not, it’s a comedy. Notable People- Will Forte, who was once on Saturday Night Live, is the main character. Kristin Schaal, from Bob’s Burgers, is another character. January Jones, from Mad Men, is a character. Mary Steenbergen, who did movies, is another character. Pros- I think that it is pretty good. It is unique and interesting. It actually works as a comedy. Cons- It is strange. It doesn’t always make sense. Some of it is dumb. The writing choices can be questionable at times. There was a bit of a cliffhanger at the end. Note to Parents- Sometimes it airs with a content adversary warning. I’d have to say that this probably is something that teens can watch, but not any younger than that. It is hard for me to tell sometimes why it would have that warning as I do not understand it a lot of the time. Recommendation- I’d say that you should watch it if it fits in with your schedule. My Viewing Habits- While I may miss episodes from time to time, I have pretty much seen this since the first episode. Cancellation reasons- It came as a bit of a surprise so I can only guess it was just the network no longer wanting it for one reason or another. Similar shows- none. DVD suggestion- This might be worth it if you care about it, otherwise, you aren’t missing much. Reception:  generally positive. Grade: B.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Why I’ve seen it- The critics like it and I thought that it might be good. Description- It is a comedy-drama (mostly comedy) that has cops solving crimes in a humorous way. Notable people- This show has Andy Sandberg (formerly from Saturday Night Live), Terry Crews (known from Everybody Hates Chris), as well as other famous people I don’t know that well or what they are from. Pros- I’d have to say that it’s pretty good how it takes stuff that could be put in a drama and has a funny spin on it. Cons- The usual bad morals are present and a lot of the humor is hit and miss. Note to Parents- I’m not sure if this has ever aired with a viewer discretion is advised warning, but there’s enough in here that’s bad for younger than teenagers. Recommendation- This show is pretty good and I recommend it. It’s nice to see a cop comedy instead of the typical cop drama. My Viewing Habits- While I have liked this since the first episode, I have not always watched it, due to various, recurring scheduling problems. I do watch it whenever it works out in my schedule. I have an on again off again relationship with this show. Special note- While FOX did cancel it, NBC picked it up for another season so it isn’t really cancelled in the long run. Similar shows: Schooled and Superstore. DVD suggestion- I don’t know if I will get it yet, but I might in the future. Reception: positive. Grade: A-.

Superhuman: Why I’ve seen it- I had the chance to see it so I saw it as a result. Noteworthiness- This is based off of a one-off special, only a long term show instead. Description- Different people who have extraordinary abilities compete against each other for money. Notable People- Kal Penn, who currently stars in Designated Survivor, is the host of the show. Mike Tyson, who is a controversial wrestler, is one of the three judges. Pros- It seemed pretty cool and interesting to see people show off their strange abilities. Cons- I’ll admit that the people seem too perfect as I have yet to see someone fail and their difficult task. Making it a competition seemed dumb. Note to Parents- I don’t think that there was any objectionable material in this. Recommendation- Take it or leave it. My Viewing Habits- I didn’t see that much of this as I watched something else instead. Cancellation reasons- This wasn’t cancelled, but is no longer on the air by virtue of never coming back for future seasons. There must not have been enough of an interest in this show. Similar show- America’s Got Talent. DVD suggestion- I doubt that there are any and I wouldn’t think they’d be worth in anyways. Reception: good. Grade: C.

Ghosted: Why I’ve seen it- I watch most of the FOX shows that air on Sunday if and when I want to see them. Description- Two men work with a paranormal investigation agency. Notable People- This has Adam Scott from Parks and Recreation as one of the main stars. Pros- It can be pretty interesting some of the time. Cons- This is clearly just a buddy cop TV show with a supernatural twist. It has half of an overused premise as a plot as a result. Note to Parents- Nothing too scary was in here, but it did have the other, usual issues like with violence and sex. Recommendation- I’d put this at a toss-up for now. My Viewing Habits- I saw what I could out of it, although I missed a lot of the second half due to it airing during the summer. Cancellation reasons- The network seemed to hate it due to suddenly pulling it from the schedule in the middle of the season and not airing the rest until the summer even though they had a timeslot to air this on early on Sundays. We all knew as a result that the summer airings were just them burning off the rest of the show as a result. Similar show: The Good Place. DVD suggestion- I think that it might not be worth it even if there is a release since not everything was resolved in the end with this show. Reception: mixed to positive. Grade: C.

Code Black: Why I’ve seen it- I watch most CBS shows at least once. Description- This show is about doctors in a hospital trying to solve medical cases. Notable People- This has Rob Lowe, who was in The Grinder, among other things. Pros- It doesn’t overload the viewers with too much at once like some other shows like it do. The show focuses on its characters, something you don’t always see in shows. Cons- It may seem like other medical dramas in some ways. It can be confusing. Note to Parents- This is more okay than other shows, but still bad enough that I wouldn’t let those not in high school watch this. The worst things would relate to whatever medical issue is going on. Recommendation- I would watch it if you can. My Viewing Habits- I watch every episode that I can and have pretty much seen this since its first episode. Cancellation reasons- The network never cared that much about the show and they must have gotten tired of it in a way so they just ended it as a result. Similar shows- Grey’s Anatomy, Chicago Med, and The Resident. DVD suggestion- These might be good. Reception: mixed. Grade: A. It does not have that much of a replacement yet due to it largely airing in the summer last season. It was probably best represented as replaced by Criminal Minds or something in the next summer’s schedule that will air later in the future.

Marvel’s Inhumans: Why I’ve seen it- I like the type of universe that the show is in and the genre too. Noteworthiness- This is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and might link with Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. in different ways. This was originally going to be just a movie before they made it into a show. In fact, the first two episodes aired in some theaters. Description- A royal family of inhumans get lost on earth and there are issues with people’s lives and powers. Pros- It seems pretty good in terms of quality. There are enough interesting things in here for me at least. A lot happens in an episode. Cons- It could use some work on character development and the fish out of water concept. It seems all over the place in terms of writing. Note to Parents- There’s a lot of bad things in here in terms of violence and other things, but this is still okay for teens to watch, just not much younger. Recommendation- I would think that people would like this and should watch it. My Viewing Habits- I had problems watching it over time due to recording issues and regret not seeing more of it. But at least I saw what I could of it. Cancellation reasons- The reception was terrible and so were the ratings so it made no sense to keep it around in the long scheme of things. Similar shows- The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, & Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. DVD suggestion- I’d get it if I ever wanted to, although I’m not sure that they will release this show on DVD in the end. Reception: generally negative. Grade: B-.

Once Upon a Time: Why I’ve seen it- General interest in the whole fairy tale genre. Description- The world of fairy tales are trapped in our world (a world of “pure horror”). Well, the show has evolved since then, but that was the original purpose of that at least. Notable People- The creators of Lost also created this show. Pros- A captivating drama, it keeps you interested with the writers’ take on fairy tales. It can be hard to stop watching. Cons- One could wonder if the show moves fast enough. Due to the frequent use of flashbacks, one could wonder also if they can keep their stories straight and avoid continuity errors. Plus, it could be too much like a soap opera for those of you who don’t like that genre. Its biggest problem is being too confusing. Note to Parents- It’s borderline wondering whether or not younger people can watch this show. There’s enough in there that you might find objectionable, but most of it might be considered okay to watch with your family. Recommendation- It is a good show, if you don’t mind the other shows at the same time. You should watch it sometime. My Viewing Habits- While I do miss episodes frequently due to poorer reception of this network in my area, I have more or less watched this since the very first episode. Cancellation reasons- After replacing a lot of the main cast that was with the show before its final season, you could tell that people might be interested in ending the show and it did end as a result. Similar show- Charmed. DVD suggestion- I hope to get these in time as I liked this show a lot. I suggest you get it too. Reception: positive. Grade: A.

Designated Survivor: Why I’ve seen it- It looked really good and interesting. Plus, it might have been under my obligation to watch one of the new fall shows on each network. Noteworthiness- The initial situation is based on something that can actually happen based on the idea of someone in the line of succession to the president is taken to a secure location in case a bad situation takes out the president and all others in the line of succession. Description- A cabinet member in the line of succession is taken to a secure place during the state of the union address to ensure that there would be a president if something bad were to happen. Something bad does happen and the designated survivor does become president. But there’s a lot more to the show than just that. Notable People- Keifer Sutherland, who was on 24 and Touch, is the main character, the new president. Kal Penn, who was on House, had roles on other TV shows, and even worked for the administration of a real president, is another character. Maggie Q, who was on Nikita, Stalker, and other things, is another character. The actress who played Brody on NCIS: New Orleans is on this show now. Pros- It has an interesting and gripping story. Cons- This show may be too complicated for its own good. It may also change too much and be too different as it goes along. Note to Parents- There is enough in here that is bad for some kids, but it isn’t as bad as it could be. Recommendation- I say that this is good and that people should watch it. My Viewing Habits- I have started watching from the beginning, but have missed a lot of it as it goes on. Special note- While ABC did cancel this show, Netflix has picked it up for at least one future season. We will see how much longer it lasts beyond that. Similar show: Madam Secretary. DVD suggestion- This might be good, but I would not know if it is worth the risk considering how you won’t know for sure what will happen next on the show. Reception: generally favorable. Grade: B-.

Zoo: Why I’ve seen it- I always watch a new CBS show once whenever I can. Noteworthiness- This is based off of a book by James Patterson. Description- Animals seek to take over the world. Pros- This show is different by presenting a man versus beast story not typically seen on television. Cons- I didn’t think that there would be much to this show or anything about it that would make it good. Well, it turns out that I was right. This show is pretty terrible and boring. Note to Parents- From the promos and what I remember, I think that this show is pretty gruesome for kids so teens can maybe watch this, but not much younger than that. Recommendation- I’d pass. It isn’t a good show. My Viewing Habits- I watched the pilot and then never saw the show a second time. Cancellation reasons- For reasons unknown, CBS decided to get rid of it. Similar shows- none. DVD suggestion- Don’t waste your money on this as it is not any good to me. Reception: good. Grade: D-. The show that came closest to replacing it was the show called Whistleblower, although I’m not sure if anything really replaced it.

Scandal: Why I’ve seen it- It crossed over with a show that I watch, so I decided to keep watching this. Description- I’m not entirely sure about all of what the plot is. I do know that it relates to a fixer of some sort or did at one point. Notable People- Shona Rhimes, who created Grey’s Anatomy, also created or helped produce this show. Pros- There are a lot of complicated characters to keep people interested in this. Cons- The show is confusing, doesn’t always make sense, and can be hard to follow. Note to Parents- There is tons in here that is not right for kids to watch. Teens can watch, but other than that, it isn’t for young people. Recommendation- I’m not sure what to say here myself. I have the feeling that this might have been better in the past. My Viewing Habits- When I learned that a crossover between this and a show that I already watched would happen, I thought that I would get into it when it would work out well. After the crossover, I thought that I might as well stay with it since it would be ending soon. Cancelation reasons- For one reason or another, they wanted to end the show. Thus, they did end the show. Similar show: Madam Secretary. DVD suggestion- I don’t think that I’d get it unless it was just to see what happened before this season. Reception: generally favorable. Grade: B.

Quantico: Why I’ve seen it- I thought that it looked good and I watched it as a result. Description- It is a spy drama about government operatives working to stop various bad guys. Pros- It is pretty interesting and worth watching. The show is quite gripping and intriguing. Cons- This show has too much sex in it. There might also be more violence than it needs. Not all of it makes sense or links together like it should. Note to Parents- Like most shows, I’d say that your teens can watch it, but not much younger than that. Recommendation- I’d say that you should watch it if you can. My Viewing Habits- I have missed some episodes, but have more or less watched this from the very beginning. Cancellation reasons- It seemed like the show wasn’t likely to stick around given it premiering late this season and barely getting brought back the season before. Similar show: MacGyver. DVD suggestion- I might get this, but am not sure that I care enough to. Reception: positive. Grade: C.

The Mindy Project: Why I’ve seen it- I forget why, but think that it was due to it airing with a show that I normally watch. Noteworthiness- It originally aired on FOX before moving to Hulu for future seasons. It then was cancelled some point later. Description- I’m not sure that I ever made sense of the plot of this show but can only see it as a typical friends based comedy. Notable People- Mindy Kaling, most notable for being on The Office, was the start of this show. Pros- It was different and worked some of the time. Cons- It didn’t seem funny to me and wasn’t my cup of tea. Note to Parents- There was a lot of content in here that was bad for kids. Teens might be safe, but not all the time. Recommendation- I’d pass and not watch this or recommend it. My Viewing Habits- I’ve seen some, random episodes, but largely did not watch any of this. Cancellation reasons- People wanted it to end and when that happens, the show will end. Similar show: The Big Bang Theory. DVD suggestion- Don’t buy this as it isn’t worth it in my mind. Reception: positive. Grade: D.

Original review of The Mindy Project with outdated information: The Mindy Project: Why I’ve seen it- There must have been nothing else good on at the time. Description- A doctor of some sort (I think) has some sort of adventures with her friends. Notable People- Mindy Kaling, from the Office, is the main character of this show. Pros- It has a good lead-in and can be funny at times. Cons- Not much good or interesting things happen on this show a lot. It can be quite a bore. Recommendation- I’d pass on this show and not watch it. Special note- While cancelled by FOX, this show will continue with new episodes on Netflix. Regardless, when network change happens, I still mention the show among the cancelled shows of a season. Similar shows- none. DVD suggestion- I don’t think that you should get DVDs of this. Reception: positive. Grade: D.

Roseanne: Why I’ve seen it- It was randomly on once and I watched it. Noteworthiness- This was a show that had originally aired a while ago before being revived for future seasons. Description- We see the adventures of a working class woman and her family. Notable People- Sara Gilbert, currently on The Talk and formerly of The Big Bang Theory, is a character on this show. John Goodman, from various movies, is also on this. Pros- It didn’t seem bad by any means. Cons- It didn’t seem funny and didn’t really keep my interest. Note to Parents- I don’t know what to say here except that this could be likely to cause any number of fights due to political issues in the show. Recommendation- I don’t have one as I haven’t seen enough of the show to know for sure what to say here. My Viewing Habits- I only saw this once when one of its older episodes aired during syndication. I had not seen any of the newer episodes so I do not know what they were like or how they are different. Cancellation reasons- The revival got great ratings and it got renewed right away. So what went wrong? Well, the star bit the hand that feed her and she was fired by the show with it cancelled as a result. But it continued without her in a spin-off called The Conners. Similar show: The Conners. DVD suggestion- I don’t know what to say here so I’ll just pass on a recommendation here. Reception: generally favorable. Grade: C.

Nashville: Why I’ve seen it- It was originally seen by me due to a gap in the schedule that left it with nothing else for me to watch outside of getting into something new. Noteworthiness- This was originally on ABC until it was cancelled and a fan campaign saved it. Description- We follow the adventures of lots of country music stars. Pros- It has a nice plot and worked well. Cons- There was a lot of content in here that did not seem like it belonged. Note to Parents- There were problems with sex and occasionally violence in the show. Recommendation- I’d say that you should watch it, although I don’t know what had happened in the show after it left ABC. My Viewing Habits- I only saw the last half of the season that was on ABC before it changed networks. Cancellation reasons- People wanted it to end and so it ended as a result. Similar shows- none. DVD suggestion- I want to get it, but have enough already to watch so I do not know if I’ll ever see this. Reception: highly positive. Grade: B-.

Original review of Nashville with outdated information: Nashville: Why I’ve seen it- When Code Black was replaced by Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders for the rest of the season, I sought something new at that timeslot, so I started watching this. I was always interested in this, but never started watching until this year. Description- This show is similar to soap operas in a way as it is about various cast members who work in the country music industry. Notable People- Hayden Panettiere, who was in movies and has a music career, is a character on the show. Pros- The show is interesting. Cons- There is too much sex involved in it. Note to Parents- This is possibly okay for teens, but not for kids. Recommendation- I’d watch it if you can. Special Note- While this show was cancelled by ABC, a fan campaign to bring it back was actually successful and it will move to the network CMT as well as Hulu. So it will continue for future seasons, but not on network television anymore. Similar shows- Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Reign, The Voice, The Catch, The Bachelor, Grey’s Anatomy, Jane the Virgin, and The Bachelorette. DVD suggestion- I’ll probably get it, but I don’t know yet if I will. I say that others should get it too. Reception: highly positive. Grade: B-.

Betty White’s off Their Rockers: Why I’ve seen it- I thought that I would like this show. Noteworthiness- It had aired on NBC for a while before moving to Lifetime and ending. Description- Old people prank young ones on a hidden camera show. Notable People- Betty White is the unofficial host of this show. Pros- It gives older people something to do. Cons- It was overall pointless and didn’t have much to offer as a result. Note to Parents- I honestly don’t think that there was anything bad in this, but I do not know as much about it to know for sure. Recommendation- Don’t bother with it. My Viewing Habits- I saw at least one episode of this show and don’t remember how much more I saw of it than that. Cancellation reasons- They must have ended it for some reason that I’m not familiar with. Similar shows- none. DVD suggestion- I don’t think that there are any nor would they be any good. Reception: good. Grade: F.

Taken- Why I’ve seen it- I liked the movie and thought that the plot would be interesting. I do not know what else it had to offer besides that. Noteworthiness- See the next section. Description- This is a prequel to the Liam Neeson movie Taken, focusing on his days as a fed before he retired and the movie happened. Notable People- Michael Irby, who was on The Unit and Almost Human, is on this show as well. Pros- It has everything in it that a good show needs. Cons- For some reason, this show just didn’t click with me. The show didn’t really stand out in any way. Note to Parents- I think that this is probably pretty typical in terms of what kids in this should watch or not. Recommendation- I’d pass on this. My Viewing Habits- I only watched it once. I might give it a second chance, but am not sure that I will ever. Cancellation reasons- There was a lot against this on the second season. For one, it was originally going to air in the fall and was needlessly delayed to make room for more Dateline. Then, it had random airing schedules at times, making it hard to keep track of when or even if the show was still on. Thus, it ended with a burn-off of episodes on Saturdays. Similar show: Ransom. DVD suggestion- I don’t know if it is out, but I’d recommend the movie instead. Reception: mixed. Grade: D.

CBSN: On Assignment: Why I’ve seen it- I normally watch a show on this network at least once and this was no exception. Noteworthiness- This is adapted from an online news network. Description- We see a lot of different news stories on this network. Pros- The stories were great. Cons- It seemed too much like a clone of 60 Minutes. Note to Parents- With this being a news show, I would say that you should not lot kids watch this, but teens should be okay. Recommendation- I think that it is good and should be seen by whoever can watch it. My Viewing Habits- I saw what I could of this, but I don’t know if I saw all of this show or not. Cancellation reasons- This wasn’t cancelled as it effectively ended by never being brought back for future seasons. It was probably never a long term plan and might have only been aired as a tie-in to the network. Similar shows: 60 Minutes, Dateline, and 20/20. DVD suggestion- There aren’t any so this show might be forgotten. Reception: unknown. Grade: A. Its replacement is most likely the summer airing of Elementary.

Other cancelled shows

Dietland: I already know that I will be writing this down in the next season’s post since most of it aired during the summertime and I normally put them in the next season’s posts since I often don’t know about their cancellations until later when they don’t show up. So here it is for the first time.

Downward Dog: This was a show that was burned off in the early summer instead of being given a good timeslot. I could have mentioned it in the last cancellation post (and maybe did). It was a comedy and we knew what the dog was thinking as this had nothing to do with yoga somehow.

The Robert Irvine Show: Here’s a daytime show that aired on the CW network. In fact, it was the only show that the CW had that didn’t air during primetime. That might explain why you might have never heard of this talk show or knew that it existed.

Alex, Inc.: This was an ABC comedy that aired at one point. I never cared about it and never saw it as a result. It only lasted one season and I don’t know what else to add about this show. Thus, I’m not going to write much about it.

Harry: Here’s a syndicated talk show that aired at one point. I never saw it so don’t know if it is as bad as a lot of those shows end up being. For whatever reason, it didn’t air anymore so maybe it was bad or it might have just had bad endings.

Rise: An NBC musical drama based off of a true story, I probably would have watched it, but did not see it due to scheduling conflicts that ended up only affecting one week. Yeah. But it seemed likely to end so I never got into it later when I could have seen it anyways.

Kevin (Probably) Saves the World: This ABC drama never had that much to it that I know of and it was over before the Olympics showing the lack of care that they had for it. Maybe it would have worked as a good show long term, but I never saw it.

The Chew: A talk show of sorts relating to food, this ABC daytime show never had much to offer and I do not know why it didn’t realize that it could get more out of Rachel Ray. That’s all I’m really going to say about this show since there’s not much else to say.

Crime Watch Daily: This was a syndicated show that might have been worthwhile or might have just been dumb like a lot of them wind up being. Whatever the reason, it ended and that’s about it. I do not know what else there is to say about this.

Deception: An ABC drama focused on a magician who helped people solve cases. I might have even seen it had it aired at a different time. Magic could have helped this show find an audience but low ratings made it disappear.

The X-Files: Yet another show that came back after it ended before leaving for a good long while before it came back again, this FOX show was once the go to alien drama that people thought of. It might not have been a lack of a long term plan that did this show in as one of the stars didn’t want to continue and they didn’t want to do this show without her so they ended it, possibly forever.

The Mayor: Somewhat adapted from reality, a totally unqualified person wins election and there are some comedy aspects as a result. Viewers voted this ABC show off when they decided not to tune in to it and it was going with it possible that not all of it made the air.

My Kitchen Rules: I have no idea what to say here as I forgot to keep track of which network aired this and want to say it was FOX but am not sure that I care as much about this update as I should as even I cannot pretend to care about everything that I should about this.

Champions: This was an NBC comedy that had very low ratings and was cancelled after only one season as a result. I don’t even know what it was about as I never saw it. Still, I’m writing more than I need to for this post that should have been finished a while ago.

LA to Vegas: I might have wanted to watch this if only because I dreamt about it once. FOX aired this as a comedy and I’ll never know now if it was good or not. It looked weird enough, but could have made sense. The only weird thing about it was that it was a later than usual cancellation.

The Originals: This was a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries and I didn’t see it as I had lost interest in that show long before this one started. It might have ended last season if only The Vampire Diaries were over at that point already. It is now replaced by All American.

Great News: An NBC sitcom created by Tina Fey, I might have been interested in watching this at one point, but never saw it in the end. It only lasted two seasons and wasn’t treated well in the second one so I can only assume that it wasn’t as good as it could have been.

The Jerry Springer Show: Considered one of the worst shows ever, I never could get through a single episode of this show as it was off putting to the point of me seeking to find something else the moment that I saw this on a TV screen. It seemed like it was just a talk show meant to exploit people’s problems in life, like we don’t have enough of that without them seeking things out on camera.

The Carmichael Show: While this looked terrible to me, I never saw an episode so I do not know for sure if it really was that way or not. This NBC comedy oddly aired during the summer and at one point was the longest running sitcom on the network. But it didn’t last.

Still Star-Crossed: Set after Romeo and Juliet, the families are still fighting as they missed the point of that story. It was adapted from a book and aired on ABC during the summer and, if that wasn’t a bad enough airtime, it was isolated to Saturdays as a result of bad ratings and cancelled later.

The Night Shift: I probably would have watched this show if only NBC had better reception. This medical drama aired at all sorts of times and kept getting delayed over and over again. It aired last during the summer and they must not have cared about it as it was over as a result.

Charlie Rose: This was one of the most notable shows on PBS. It seemed like it would last a very long time and probably would have were it not for allegations against this journalist which got this cancelled and him fired from CBS news as a result.

The Brave: Here’s another show that I might have wanted to watch at one point, but I did not ever see it as a result due to bad reception where I live and the fact that it seemed likely to end in the future. This was an NBC military drama.

The Mick: One of the most terrible looking shows based on advertisements, I hated it despite having never once seen an episode. I dreamt about it at one point, but never saw it in the end. It’s ending was a bit of a surprise, but FOX wanted to purge itself of its comedies for some reason unless they weren’t a live action show.

Shades of Blue: Since it largely aired its final season in the summer of 2018, I will mention a full-fledged review of it next season hopefully later this year. There’s not much else that I want to say about it so I will just mention more on this later.

Trial and Error: Also a summer burn off in 2018, this will be mentioned again in a later post. I might have wanted to see this, but never did due to thinking that I would be watching too many shows at once. I never did see it as a result.

Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge: This was an NBC link with America Ninja Warrior. I was never into such a thing and never watched it as a result. I don’t know what else to say except some of the reasons why this post is so late is making sure that I saw the series finales of The Middle and Kevin Can Wait.

The F Word: A chef Ramsey show, I’m not sure how he’ll manage with only three other shows on this network. Since a lot of these are just the same show presented in different ways, I can only say that this must not have been one that they cared about.

Boy Band: Sometimes, ABC airs a reality show during the summer that might be popular at the time but never is seen again in future seasons. That’s right: this was never actually cancelled to my knowledge but is over now since it was never brought back.

Somewhere Between: This looked interesting, but I never saw it as a result of scheduling issues. This was an ABC show about a person who got a second chance by reliving the time after a person died. But it must not have had much to offer as a result as it was over next as a result.

The Exorcist: Here’s a FOX show that was based off of the well known horror movie. It shouldn’t have even gotten a second season due to terrible ratings. But they had the wise sense to end it after the next time it failed to get viewers.

Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly: This aired during the summer of 2017 as was said that it would come back but never did. Thus, this NBC show is over now as a result. As one last random addition, there will not be groupings of how a show was cancelled this time around so you won’t know who had the bad timeslots and who had other issues.

List of every cancelled show: Scandal, The Middle, New Girl, Downward Dog, The Carmichael Show, Still Star Crossed, The Originals, Hooten and the Lady, Once Upon a Time, 10 Days in the Valley; Me, Myself, and I; Valor, Living Biblically, Tavis Smiley, Charlie Rose, Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly, The Exorcist, Somewhere Between, Boy Band, The F Word, Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge, Trial and Error, Shades of Blue, My Kitchen Rules, The Mick, The Brave, The Night Shift, The Jerry Springer Show, Great News, LA to Vegas, Taken, Champions, The Mayor, The X-Files, Deception, Crime Watch Daily, The Chew, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, Rise, Harry; Alex, Inc.; The Robert Irvine Show, Downward Dog, Dietland, CBSN: On Assignment, Betty White’s off Their Rockers, Nashville, Roseanne, Zoo, The Mindy Project, Quantico, Designated Survivor, Inhumans, Code Black, Ghosted, Superhuman, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man on Earth, 9JKL, Battle of the Network Stars, Timeless, Kevin Can Wait, Superior Donuts, Lucifer, The Crossing, Steve Harvey’s Funderdome, Scorpion, Better Late Than Never, Wisdom of the Crowd, Life Sentence, The Toy Box, Law & Order: True Crime, Candy Crush, and American Grit.

Gotham Drinking Game

I really hope that I can finish a post by tomorrow. But I still have to do this post now. With luck, you will see a huge post that I should have done a long while ago. Anyways, I should get to a new theme with these drinking games as shows in their final season might be better mentions of types of games to play. Remember that drinking games are played at one's own risk and I take no responsibility for any personal harm that occurs when one plays a game like this.
