2022-2023 Cancellation Predictions

This is a time sensitive post that I want to get done soon so I might as well get it done now. There will not be that much time left before the upcoming season starts. So I might as well go network by network and talk about which shows I feel won’t be lasting beyond this upcoming season. I should tell you that I won’t ever again be doing look backs on these posts since I feel that there isn’t too much that I can say about them that I would like to or want to. So let’s get this done.

ABC shows

What I think will go

A Million Little Things (This is a freebie as we know that it will be ending). Big Sky (This lost its creative juice last season and it is only a matter of time before it ends). The Goldbergs (This has had enough behind the scenes drama that it is likely to have a final season announced before too long). Judge Steve Harvey (His shows often don’t last). The Rookie: Feds (This is on here due to the spin-offs won’t be successful rule, although we’ll see if that turns out to be the case or not this year). Celebrity Jeopardy (This is on here due to the reboots won’t be successful rule, although we’ll see if that turns out to be the case or not this year).

Alaska Daily (It is easier to put a newer show as cancelled than staying around). Avalon (It is easier to put a newer show as cancelled than staying around). The Company You Keep (It is easier to put a newer show as cancelled than staying around). Not Dead Yet (It is easier to put a newer show as cancelled than staying around). Will Trent (It is easier to put a newer show as cancelled than staying around).

What I think will stay

Abbott Elementary (It is likely to keep lasting, although it is hard to tell sometimes with second season shows). America’s Funniest Home Videos (It never should have lasted as long as it has, but it also isn’t in any danger of ending). American Idol (It is weird that it has kept lasting, but it probably will barring anything I can’t see coming). The Bachelor franchise (It never should have lasted as long as it has, but it also isn’t in any danger of ending). Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (It seems to be lasting long enough for now so I see it as continuing to last still).

The Conners (This will keep lasting as long as people want it to even though I don’t like it). The Good Doctor (It is still popular and won’t end any time soon). The Great Christmas Light Fight (I may have no interest in it, but it will keep lasting). Grey’s Anatomy (Don’t ever buy into the rumors that this show will be ending as it won’t unless or until the network makes it official). Home Economics (I think that this will be more of a flip of the coin as to whether or not it will stay, but I’m going with a positive outcome going into the new season for this for now).

The Rookie (I don’t think that this is in danger in any way of ending right now). Shark Tank (Will this ever end? I don’t see that as happening any time soon). Station 19 (This will probably keep lasting). The Wonder Years (This will probably keep lasting).

CBS shows

What I think will go

The Amazing Race (It seems likely with pandemic issues still affecting things that this is more likely to end than stick around). Blue Bloods (This is getting more expensive to make so it is likely that an older show like this would end than stick around). CSI: Vegas (As much as I like this show so far, I still think that this is likely not to last as it still doesn’t seem like that much of a long term plan for the show). Lingo (A lot of reboots don’t last and this won’t be helped by being seen as a Wordle rip-off).

NCIS: Los Angeles (It will have the worst timeslot in television history, but the main issue that I have with this is that there are rumors that this might be ending. Because of that, one should be betting against it as a result). S.W.A.T. (I think that this has still had the occasional ratings problems and knowing that this already is in syndication is actually a bad thing for it). Fire Country (It doesn’t seem like the plot of this will work as a whole).

The Real Love Boat (What even is this? I don’t get it and I don’t think that it will last as a result). So Help Me Todd (This looks terrible and shows that look terrible often won’t last). True Lies (This is on here due to the reboots won’t be successful rule, although we’ll see if that turns out to be the case or not this year). Superfan (It is easier to put a newer show as cancelled than staying around).

What I think will stay

The Equalizer (We already know that this show will be coming back for another season beyond this. Now enjoy these same two sentences a whole lot more). FBI (We already know that this show will be coming back for another season beyond this. Now enjoy these same two sentences a whole lot more). FBI: Most Wanted (We already know that this show will be coming back for another season beyond this. Now enjoy these same two sentences a whole lot more).

East New York (This seems likely to last in my mind, even though it is risky to put a new show on the safe list). FBI: International (We already know that this show will be coming back for another season beyond this. Now enjoy these same two sentences a whole lot more). Tough as Nails (We already know that this show will be coming back for another season beyond this. Now enjoy these same two sentences a whole lot more). Young Sheldon (We already know that this show will be coming back for another season beyond this. Now enjoy these same two sentences a whole lot more). NCIS (With a different NCIS show more likely to end, I’m putting this as safe).

NCIS: Hawaii (With a different NCIS show more likely to end, I’m putting this as safe). Bob Hearts Abishola (While I don’t like it, others don’t feel that way and this is likely to last). Ghosts: Unless there is a serious drop in ratings, this will be sticking around. The Neighborhood: While I don’t like it, others don’t feel that way and this is likely to last. Survivor (This probably isn’t going to be ending any time soon, although I am more worried about it now than I ever used to be before). 60 Minutes (Primetime’s longest running show isn’t going anywhere). 48 Hours (This will keep lasting).

CW shows

What I think will go

The Flash (While this is a bit of a shock, this will be ending next season so I might as well add this to the list since I know that it will be ending). Riverdale (After taking a rocket ship ride way over the shark to the extent that I’ve never seen any show do before, it will be ending with the upcoming new season). Coroner (This took too long of a break between seasons and could easily end the way that any import to the US could suddenly end). Nancy Drew (This will need a serious ratings boost or they will have no choice but to get rid of this otherwise illogical renewal). Stargirl (Its long hiatus won’t help it out that much, although I don’t really think that it will end, but think that it leans more towards trends that it will end versus anything else).

Criss Angel’s Magic with the Stars (This will be on Saturdays and while even that means nothing on this network, I’d say that it is more likely not to last since there are enough magic shows already on this network). Family Law (I have nothing against Canadian shows, but they are more likely to last in this country than they are in that one as is any foreign import). Gotham Knights (I have no idea if this will be part of Arrowverse or not. What I do know is that people already hate it so it is less likely to last then as a result. If it is part of Arrowverse, it might be more likely to last).

Professionals (It is easier to put a newer show as cancelled than staying around). Recipe for Disaster (It is easier to put a newer show as cancelled than staying around). Walker: Independence (This is on here due to the spin-offs won’t be successful rule, although we’ll see if that turns out to be the case or not this year). The Winchesters (This is on here due to the spin-offs won’t be successful rule, although we’ll see if that turns out to be the case or not this year).

What I think will stay

All American: While I don’t like it, others don’t feel that way and this is likely to last. All American: Homecoming (I’ve never seen this, but it doesn’t seem to be in any danger yet in my mind). Kung Fu (I think that this is still safe for now, barring any unusual news). Masters of Illusion: Even as a fill in the blank show, it will keep lasting on a network like this one. Penn & Teller: Fool Us (This is going to keep lasting as I don’t know what could suddenly end this). Superman & Lois (With another Arrowverse show ending, this is likely to last). Walker: While I don’t like it, others don’t feel that way and this is likely to last. World’s Funniest Animals (While I don’t like it, others don’t feel that way and this is likely to last). Whose Line is it Anyways? (This will keep lasting).

FOX shows

What I think will go

Call Me Kat (Most live action sitcoms on FOX don’t last that long and it has already lasted longer than it should have). Crime Scene Kitchen (I just don’t see a long hiatus as a good thing for it, even if that gives this a better time of year to air). Fantasy Island (I just don’t see a long hiatus as a good thing for it, even if that gives this a better time of year to air). Housebroken (I just don’t see a long hiatus as a good thing for it, even if that gives this a better time of year to air). Lego Masters (I just don’t see a long hiatus as a good thing for it, even if that gives this a better time of year to air).

Welcome of Flatch (Illogical renewals don’t tend to last. The second time around will often be just as bad as the first). Animal Rescue (It is easier to put a newer show as cancelled than staying around). Grimsburg (A lot of animated shows don’t last on FOX so I’m putting this here as a result). Monarch: Since the start of this show was so late, I don’t see it as lasting as a result. Krapololis: Since the start of this show was so late, I don’t see it as lasting as a result.

What I think will stay

Accused (This seems likely to last in my mind, even though it is risky to put a new show on the safe list). Alert (This seems likely to last in my mind, even though it is risky to put a new show on the safe list). Gordon Ramsey’s Food Star (Like Will Smith, he’s too much of a hit to ignore).

The Great North (It was today that it was announced that it was renewed so I should include it on this list since we know it will be coming back again). 9-1-1 (This is still popular and will keep lasting. I am shocked that I haven’t yet seen this in syndication, although it is certain to wind up in it). 9-1-1: Lone Star (Same as the flagship show, this will keep lasting). Bob’s Burgers (This isn’t in any danger of ending as far as I can tell). The Cleaning Lady: While I don’t like it, others don’t feel that way and this is likely to last. Family Guy (This isn’t in any danger of ending as far as I can tell).

Hell’s Kitchen (This isn’t in any danger of ending as far as I can tell). The Masked Singer (While I am almost certain that I will never see this again due to them featuring Rudy Giuliani, I am pretty sure that it will keep lasting). Next Level Chef (This isn’t in any danger of ending as far as I can tell). The Resident (This isn’t in any danger of ending as far as I can tell). The Simpsons (This isn’t in any danger of ending as far as I can tell). WWE Smackdown (It never should have lasted as long as it has, but it also isn’t in any danger of ending).

NBC shows

What I think will go

New Amsterdam (This is known to be airing its final season, so I should add it to this list as a result). The Blacklist (This is getting too old and I personally haven’t bothered to watch it in years). La Brea (While this may not be a limited run series, it is still more safe to bet against it than for). Weakest Link (I have no idea what might air against this, but think it is safer betting against this than for). LA Fire and Rescue (It is easier to put a newer show as cancelled than staying around). Lopez versus Lopez (Do people even care about George Lopez anymore?) Night Court (This is on here due to the reboots won’t be successful rule, although we’ll see if that turns out to be the case or not this year). Quantum Leap (This will be in NBC’s worst timeslot). The Wheel (International adaptations tend to do poorly).

What I think will stay

Magnum P.I. (While it was originally cancelled for around a month before being brought back by NBC, we know that it will last more than just the one season that NBC has brought it back for so we’ll see just how much longer it will continue to last on NBC beyond this). American Auto (I may have no interest in it, but it will keep lasting). Capital One College Bowl (I may have no interest in it, but it will keep lasting). Chicago Fire (I may have no interest in it, but it will keep lasting). Chicago P.D. (I may have no interest in it, but it will keep lasting).

Dateline (Does this ever have a chance and ending?) Grand Crew (I may have no interest in it, but it will keep lasting). Law & Order: (I may have no interest in it, but it will keep lasting). Law & Order: Organized Crime (This will keep lasting). Law & Order: SVU (This will keep lasting). That’s My Jam (I may have no interest in it, but it will keep lasting). Transplant (I may have no interest in it, but it will keep lasting). The Voice (I may have no interest in it, but it will keep lasting). Young Rock (I may have no interest in it, but it will keep lasting). Found (This seems likely to last in my mind, even though it is risky to put a new show on the safe list).

Sorry for repeating myself for a lot of this, but it was easier in my mind to copy and paste lines of this that more or less amounted to the same thing than do much of anything else. Sorry that this post is as late as it is.

Wishlist for Final Season of New Amsterdam

As expected, I don’t have much time to get a post done. But I do know that of the shows that will be ending next season, I was wanting to list some of my ideas of what should be done to end it. I’ll see if they will do any of this or not. I do like this show and want to give my thoughts on what they should do with the final season of this.

1-      End with Max’s wedding. I know that the whole end with a wedding cliché is often overdone for finales, but it seems like it would fit and work best this way.

2-      Do the tsunami episode. The original season 2 finale was supposed to have the team of doctors in a foreign country with a cliffhanger finale regarding dealing with a tsunami. I feel that this could make for a good episode so I would like to see them still do it if they can.

3-      Stop with all of the relationship drama. Since the show will be ending, make sure that all of the couples that they want to see together wind up together sooner rather than later and just tone down the drama of all of this for once instead of having couples constantly fighting.

4-      Cover monkeypox. It should be the focus of one episode. They don’t have to cover any more than just one case of it.

5-      Make Max’s daughter more important. She seems like too much of an afterthought and we can often forget that she’s even there and supposed to be a part of the show.

6-      Straighten out the whole issue of where they live. I don’t know what all will be in the final season and where we will pick up since there was a bit of a situation that we don’t yet know that much about. But I argue that we should feature everyone in New York and forget about the whole London thing if that can work out.

Christmas Commercials 2021

This may seem long overdue because it is. Indeed, I just finished watching all that I had recorded before the Christmas season of last year today. (Just one part of one of the tapes that I have has shows on it still from 2021 and then I’ll be caught up on that.) I wanted to do this post now since I don’t have much time for anything else right now. There’s a lot that I want done and hopefully will get done over time. We’ll see if all of it will get done.

In 2012, the official count of Christmas commercials before October was 0. The official count before Halloween was 27. The official count before the Sunday after Thanksgiving was 200. In 2013, the official count of Christmas commercials before October was 5. The official count before Halloween was 30. The official count before the Sunday after Thanksgiving was 600. In 2014, the official count of Christmas commercials before October was 3. The official count before Halloween was 26. The official count before the Sunday after Thanksgiving was 700. In 2015, the official count of Christmas commercials before October was 0. The official count before Halloween was 13. The official count before the Sunday after Thanksgiving was 530.

In 2016, the official count of Christmas commercials before October was 0. The official count before Halloween was 45. The official count before the Sunday after Thanksgiving was 386. In 2017, the official count of Christmas commercials before October was 0. The official count before Halloween was 78. The official count before December started was 767. In 2018, the official count of Christmas commercials before October was 0. The official count before Halloween was 13. The official count before December started was 567. In 2019, the official count of Christmas commercials before October was 0. The official count before Halloween was 19. The official count before the Sunday after Thanksgiving was 487.

Christmas overrun for 2014-2015 is 28 commercials. Christmas overrun for 2015-2016 is 14 commercials. Christmas overrun for 2016-2017 is 55 commercials. Christmas overrun for 2017-2018 is 41 commercials. Christmas overrun for 2018-2019 is 36 commercials.

In 2020, the official count of Christmas commercials before October was 1. The official count before Halloween was 33. The official count before the Sunday after Thanksgiving was 360. In 2021, the official count of Christmas commercials before October was 0. The official count before Halloween was 46. The official count before the Sunday after Thanksgiving was 372.

Christmas overrun for 2019-2020 is 18. Christmas overrun for 2020-2021 is 17. Christmas overrun for 2021-2022 is 9. Christmas overrun means that after Christmas and in a bit of January, you will see Christmas commercials of some type. I’m keeping track of them, although they will always be separate from the main list.

There’s nothing else to say as I end this post. Maybe you regular readers of this blog know what all is missing from it that should appear again soon. There are other random posts to work on as well. And I may bring back an old post with a new one for just this year. I just hope that I have the time to do all that I want to and get all of this done.
