Top Ten Heroes of Arrow

There is one other Arrow based top ten that I will get to as these posts go along. I hope to get to that sometime next month. For now, it is time for me to post about the top ten heroes of Arrows. I will post who I think the best of them are and why.

Qualifications: Before I go any further, I might as well explain some rules and criteria that I have for this post. You see, I am not going with anyone that I consider to be an anti-hero as that can be its own post in the future. That’s why Oliver Queen isn’t on this list or other people like him. I hope that you can wait for them. I’m only choosing people who I think are always heroes. And as much as I wanted to include heroes who aren’t part of team arrow, there wasn’t really anyone else left to choose from.

#10 Roy Harper- He was a memorable part of the show, if not the highest ranking person on this list. A great part of team arrow for however long it lasted, he had a nice way of helping out the team and doing what needed to be done.

#9 Lyla Michaels- Were it not for the problems she caused during the crisis, she might be higher on this list. But I still like her and feel that she belongs here on the list as a result. She provided a lot of support to team arrow and made enough of an impression on me in other shows in the franchise that I feel that she has to be on this list now.

#8 Curtis Holt- He might have been subjected to being comic relief at times, but he did pretty good as a character outside of that. I would have liked to see more of him, but probably did see a lot, even having missed so much of this show in the end.

#7 Rene Ramirez: A tad more serious than the person before him, we saw a very well rounded character from Rene that even when his emotions got in the way, he didn’t cause that many problems while he learned important lessons about what was going on. He has to be on this list and there was a lot that he did and he even became mayor at some point.

#6 Quentin Lance- An actual detective, he could keep the other vigilantes in line most of the time and even did his best to make amends for this wrongs when he was forced to betray the team. He has to rank high too as he died for someone else like true heroes do.

#5 Dinah Drake- The second black canary, she proved to be a force to be reckoned with until a villain cut her vocal cords and her powers didn’t work for a while. Without her powers, she still proved to be a great fighter and she was in law enforcement as well.

#4 Thea Queen- She was awesome and I only wish that there was more of her on the show in the end. The sister of Oliver, she proved quite an adept fighter herself and was quite a powerful force on the team. It is hard to think of many other skilled fighters.

#3 Laurel Lance of Earth 1- The original Yanny to us, she was a wonderful part of the show and remained quite a huge influence on it even after her death on the show. She was awesome at fighting others and became an inspiration at some point to her earth 2 counterpart.

#2 John Diggle- The best friend of Oliver and long time partner, he could have gotten number one, but I feel that another person was just a bit better. He was always there for his friend, even on another earth, and could be a hero in the future if the green lantern subplot that was hinted in the finale winds up being worthy of its own show or at least future appearances in the future.

#1 Felicity Smoak- She’s more than just Oliver’s wife. She provided much needed support on the field and was a master at technology in the end. Without her, the team might not have had as much success as it did. I only wish that she could prove more of a fighter in the end, but is an awesome part that I only wish that she had more of a role in the final season.

That’s about it for this post. What else can I say? I think that all of these people were great heroes in terms of their influence on the show, saving Star City and tons of other important things as well. Wait until I get to the next post when I mention the best anti-heroes on the show and then we’ll hopefully have a complete list of all three main things on that show.

Usual Primetime Rerun

Often nowadays, reruns have become a thing of the past with them rarely happening as much as they used to anymore. Other times, you can often see a primetime rerun at the usual spot all the time and not even just during the summer when some networks want to air repeats in the end. It can be a result of many things and I thought that I would talk some about it here.

First, let’s get the obvious ones out of the way. During the summer, some reruns can be quite common. It doesn’t happen as much anymore, but is more common nowadays than it otherwise could be. There can still be a repeat every now and then during the normal time that it has. Sometimes, you might see a repeat in another show’s usual timeslot, which can be weird. That is normally a huge danger sign for the show that is not being rerun as usual. But what I’m talking about in this blog post is different.

There may be a time when encore programming of various sorts. It can be the same thing that is always shown as a repeat. Or it could be an assortment of various programs. Why would that be? Wouldn’t there be something new that they could put in its place? Sometimes there can be, but they chose to put something else in the timeslot instead while holding the new shows for later.

One of the most common themes of a usual primetime rerun is that there could be a comedy that has no partner for a while. This was common on CBS for a few seasons. They got rid of a show and had nothing to pair it with so they just aired reruns of other comedies all the time. It wasn’t a while until they finally got the right comedy stride down and it more or less lasted for a while, outside of maybe May sweeps in various years, if not most of them.

Honestly, there’s not too much else to say with this blog post since there isn’t too much else to say. It can be annoying at times, but also helpful in case you missed something that you care about. It can seem like shows get the short end of the stick by premiering later when this was used. But it is what you will see a lot of the time on TV, sometimes more than others.

When Regular Season Spills Over into Summer

I’ve had this post planned for quite some time. At one point, I was going to write it last year, but this did not happen in the end. I might as well do it now that it will be that time of the year again. There are a lot of shows on the air right now that started late enough into the season that they will still be airing some into the summer months of June or even later. What’s up with that?

For as long as I’ve known TV that well, there was some show or some part of the schedule that was just long enough that it aired during the summer despite starting soon enough before it to not really be seen as a summer show in the end. Some of them might have most of the schedule on during the summer. Some could even largely be summer shows that start earlier than others. Parts of it affect what I put in the cancelled posts each year. But it largely doesn’t matter what happens.

Why does this happen? Well, there are a lot of different reasons. If a show goes on a long hiatus, they might not be able to finish airing the rest of their episodes until during the summer sometime. They might have had some sort of production problem that delayed when they could make new episodes. Another problem could just be with scheduling. Of course, scheduling might not be the issue as it could just be that they could be refusing to own a show’s cancellation as valid yet.

The most common reason that a regular season show would end or spill out into the summer is that it was cancelled during the main part of the season and it is airing the rest of its episodes in the summer as the burn off or end of the season or series. There can be other reasons such as filming that was later than usual or had some other issue like that.

It can be hard on viewers of one show to have to deal with it being on later than usual. But it is a fact that they are more than likely going to deal with at some point in time. Most shows don’t have any late airing episodes in the summer, but it does happen enough that one can expect it since it affects enough shows in the end, even if it won't affect most of them.

That’s about it for this post. It will be a while until the next update happens. It won’t be on Tuesday as I will be yielding that day of the week to another blog for a few weeks into the future. I will be back here on Tuesdays in the future and will let you know when or if I’ll phase that out in June when I start doing them in this blog again. I will be back at some point.

Midseason Shows 2020 Part 2

At one point, I thought that there might not even be a part two to the midseason since nearly all that I might care about didn’t seem to be premiering when I thought it would be. I also thought about having just one show in this, but decided that I might as well watch a second one when it worked out. All of the new shows that I want to watch and hopefully will be able to watch start watching will premiere in the summer if they make it to the airwaves soon at all. Enjoy these brief reviews.

Broke: Show Description: A single mother has to deal with some of her former rich family members moving in after they lose their money. Behind the Scenes- Pauley Perrette from NCIS is the lead of this show. Jamie Camill from Jane the Virgin plays another character. It currently replaces Carol’s Second Act, although that show might be back at some point in time. My Thoughts- Some of the acting can seem off. The plot can be improved on. But it seems like it is good enough of a show if you have no other commitments at the time. Long Term Prospects- This might last if pilots are more doomed than they could normally be. It might not if things go back to normal soon. Where to Find- On CBS at 9:30/8:30 Central on Thursdays

Council of Dads: Show Description- Before dying of cancer, a man creates a group of friends to be a council of dads to his children. Behind the Scenes: Nothing to see here. Move along. Move along. My Thoughts- It can seem similar in parts to Parenthood and other shows like it. Parts of it can move too quickly while other parts move to slowly. Still, it has a great idea and has a lot of potential to it. Long Term Prospects- I’d put this at a toss-up for now. Maybe even the network won’t know for quite a while what to do with it and whether or not it will last. Where to Find- On NBC at 8/7 Central on Thursdays
