Midseason Shows 2022 Part 1

For better or for worse, a whole lot of shows during this season haven’t been worth watching. I even plan to do a post about that later at some point. Now I realize that I want to review the next set of Saturday shows since there actually is one so I should do these new shows now. Since the Olympics are almost over, I might as well get to this right away. More new shows should be reviewed later.

That’s My Jam: Show Description- Celebrities compete in teams against each other in various music related challenges from the mind of Jimmy Fallon. Behind the Scenes- Jimmy Fallon, from Saturday Night Live, Late Night, and The Tonight Show, is the host of this and this is inspired by things on his show. My Thoughts- This wasn’t too bad, but not worth watching. The competition is ultimately pointless since the contestants get the same amount of money for their charity regardless of the show’s outcome. Plus, the point system seems arbitrary regardless of this fact anyways. I give this two out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- It is already renewed for season 2. It could last beyond that, but maybe more to fill the cracks with scheduling than anything else. Where to Find- Not currently on the schedule

Next Level Chef: Show Description- Various contestants compete in three different kitchens, each one at a different level than the other with there being the worst kitchen at the bottom and the best one at the top. Behind the Scenes- Gordon Ramsey, who does a fucking lot of cooking shows, is a host and one of the mentors of this show. My Thoughts- While it doesn’t always seem like the three kitchens offer that much of a difference between each other, the show is interesting enough as someone who once or often didn’t like cooking shows so I keep watching it. I give this three out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- This might last or might not. I have no idea whether or not it will. I’d say that it might not at this moment in time. Where to Find- On FOX at 9/8 Central on Wednesdays

March: Show Description- This is basically just a documentary on various marching bands in various high schools. Behind the Scenes: Nothing to add here. My Thoughts- This wasn’t remotely close to being any good or interesting. I give this two out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- This is only meant to last just the one season. Where to Find- On the CW at 9/8 Central on Sundays

The Cleaning Lady: Show Description- A female undocumented immigrant gets caught up in a crime ring of sorts. Behind the Scenes- This has Oliver Hudson from Rules of Engagement. My Thoughts- This did not work in any way in my mind. I give this one out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- This is doing well in the ratings for now so it might be likely to last as a result. We’ll see if that proves true next season. Where to Find- On FOX at 9/8 Central on Mondays

Good Sam: Show Description- A woman has to deal with her father waking up from a coma and trying to take control of the hospital he once led. It’s a medical drama. Behind the Scenes: Nutting to put here. My Thoughts- This wasn’t good enough to keep watching. Something seemed off with some of the acting and the show didn’t have any other good qualities to keep me coming back to it in the future. I give this two out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- This isn’t likely to last. Where to Find- On CBS at 10/9 Central on Wednesdays

Naomi: Show Description- From what I could understand of this, there is an alien with super powers, they aren’t convinced that Superman is real, and I have no idea if this is part of Arrowverse. I hope not. Behind the Scenes- This is adapted from a comic book character because, of course it is. My Thoughts- There was nothing of substance in the pilot. This isn’t worth keeping up with. I give this one out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- I’d put this as a toss-up, but personally think that it won’t last at all. Where to Find- On the CW at 9/8 Central on Tuesdays

Women of the Movement: Show Description- Based on the true story of Emmett Till, we see the role of his killers’ trial and various other stories relating to the Civil Rights movement. Behind the Scenes- As already stated, this is a true story in many ways. My Thoughts- This is great and nice to see in the context of today where it still matters. I give this four out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- This is already over as it wasn’t meant to last long. Where to Find- Not currently on the schedule

Pivoting- Show Description- The death of someone bring three friends together. Behind the Scenes- This has Maggie Q from Nikita, Stalker, and Designated Survivor. This has Ginnifer Goodwin from Once Upon a Time and Why Women Kill. This also had Eliza Coupe from Happy Endings. My Thoughts- This is very bad. It is far from being funny, which is the intent. It wastes the talent of its stars with such horrible material. Plus, I can’t really tell what it’s even about at all. I give this one out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- This likely will get cancelled. Where to Find- On FOX at 9:30/8:30 Central on Thursdays

Great Chocolate Showdown: Show Description- Various contestants compete in a food competition where they deal with different chocolate creations. Behind the Scenes- I don’t think that there’s a thing to put here. My Thoughts- Its biggest flaw is that not all of the contestants get their food eaten during the first round. But it seems to work for the most part outside of that. The food is always interesting and not just the same old thing over and over again. I give this three out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- I have no idea, but given its timeslot, I’d be surprised if this gets a second season. Where to Find- On the CW at 8/7 Central on Saturdays

The Real Dirty Dancing: Show Description- Real people compete to see who can be like the two main characters of the movie Dirty Dancing. Behind the Scenes- This is based off of the movie in some ways. It also has some notable people on it that aren’t worth getting into now. My Thoughts- This doesn’t work if you haven’t seen the movie and really doesn’t have much to offer if you have. I give this two out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- I don’t think that it will last since it seems to be a short term plan from what I understand about it. Where to Find- On FOX at 9/8 Central on Tuesdays
