If you pay attention to the
schedules of shows, you would notice the strange thing of when shows vanish
from it. Sometimes, it will actually return at some point, just having an odd
hiatus, sometimes that isn’t planned. Other times, you know it is gone for a
while but will be coming back at some point. Still, this is an odd thing and
doesn’t always mean a show is getting cancelled. I thought that I would explain
more about this event in this post.
One of the examples of this
that I can think of when a show disappeared from the schedule without being
cancelled (at the time, at least) was the show Stalker when airing. It had a
cliffhanger into some sort of hiatus, but we couldn’t tell at first if it was
gone forever as I didn’t know when or if it was coming back in the future. Only
it did return in time for May sweeps only to be cancelled forever after another
cliffhanger that thankfully wasn’t as bad.
A different type of example of
a show that seems to disappear is when a season starts and it doesn’t have a
return date. For example, Shades of Blue does not yet have a return date even
though it is going to air more this season. Sometimes it can be over a year
before a show returns on network TV. This was normally something that wouldn’t
happen that much, if at all. But now it seems to happen every now and then with
different shows. It can be hard to know whether or not to write them off as
cancelled. But they aren’t always cancelled.
Something very important to
note is that often when a show is gone from the schedule, it is cancelled. And
don’t ever listen to a network saying that a show isn’t cancelled. 95% of the
time when they say that, then a show really is cancelled. Maybe they will never
own up to it and never cancelled it officially. Maybe they will come May or
some other time. And there are rare times when it isn’t actually cancelled yet
is still pulled from the schedule for some odd reason.
I don’t know of what else
there is to say in this blog post so I’m going to wrap it up here with this
ending and not say much more. It is possible that you will be seeing more of
this blog in the future, but it might not happen as soon as I’m wanting to. Be
on the lookout for some random posts on certain days that I’ll mention in the
lead that could become regular times for me to post this blog. I’ll let you
know if these Saturday updates ever go away.
