Cancelled Shows and More

Sorry that this took so long to actually publish. I have included the cancelled shows in the 2012-2013 television season as well as the winner of the Silver Globe Awards and the nominees for the Golden Huckleberry Awards. I hope that you enjoy this.

 

Cancelled Shows this season

 

30 Rock: Noteworthiness- Tina Fey created the show based in part by her experiences on Saturday Night Live. Why I've seen it- Genuine interest in the show considering all the buzz it was getting. Description- I don't know how to describe it except a group of people who work on a show and the comedy that happens behind the scenes. Notable People- Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, and Tracy Morgan, all known from Saturday Night Live and other works, all work on this show. Alec was never a cast member of SNL like Tina and Tracy, but he has hosted the show more than anyone else. Others might be present. Pros- An interesting comedy with recognizable people. Cons- Other good shows tend to be on at the same time. It can be hard to understand sometimes. Recommendation- Take it or leave it. Cancellation Reasons: Decline ratings plus a late season start last season. The final season was shortened and it left the airwaves early. Grade: B+. Buy the DVDs if you can.

 

Made in Jersey: Description- A courtroom drama about a lawyer from New Jersey working in Manhattan. It was the first of the season to get cancelled. I never saw it. Cancellation Reasons- See CBS curse, an earlier blog post on more information about why it failed. Also, it had horribly low ratings and was on Friday nights. Grade: none

 

Emily Owens MD: Description- A quirky new CW show about a neurotic doctor that is a mixture of both comedy and drama. The main part of this show is that even though high school is over, it can continue in your new job. Why I've seen it- Interest in finding some sort of medical drama to watch as well as thinking that show might be good. Notable People- Mamie Gummer is the main character and the daughter of Meryl Streep. Pros- I think it is great for everyone who hates school. I also think that it has a great place on a network that normally goes under the radar. Cons- Sex comes up too much, as usual in primetime shows. Cancellation Reasons-It is too good and had low ratings. Grade: A+. I doubt that they'll release it to DVD, but if they do, you might like it. There's just a bit of a cliffhanger ending at the end you might be concerned about.

 

Last Resort: Noteworthiness- This is another attempt by ABC to not waste the set of Lost by using it for another show. The first was Off the Map. Description- This ABC drama is about treason and how it affects the country they were from and the country they turn to for help. Why I've seen it- Nothing else was on and I was interested in the show. Pros- This is a unique concept that doesn't typically happen on television. Cons- It was hard to tell what the overall plot was or where they were going with this. It seemed overall dull and a waste of time. It moves too slowly to make sense or gather a following. In fact, it seems like ABC only would have created this show so that the set from Lost wouldn't be wasted and they could do more shows with it. Cancellation Reasons- Low viewership among other things. Grade: D. Not sure if they are/have released the DVDs. Not sure if you should buy them anyways. It depends on if your views are the same as mine about it.

 

Partners: Description- If I understand this correctly, it has two roommates, once gay and one straight, as well as the people they are romantically involved with. Why I've seen it- Good lead-in. Notable People- It is by the creators of Will and Grace, which I've barely seen. Pros- This show is kind of interesting. It has its moments and isn't that bad. Cons- based on the episode I saw, it was very lame. I wouldn't give it that good a score. Cancellation Reasons- It was incredibly lame and nobody was interested in it. It actually lasted longer than it should have due to issues with the other planned comedy, Friend Me. Grade: C+. I do not think that you should buy it on DVD since it probably won't be released anyways.

 

Ben and Kate: Description- This show is about a brother and sister in a strange blended family. Why I've seen it- Good lead-in. Pros- Critics liked it. Cons- It seemed both poorly written and poorly acted. I don't even quite know what it is about. Cancellation Reasons- Nobody watched it and it wasn't very good. Grade: F. I doubt it will be released to DVD, but if it is, don't bother with it.

 

The Office: Description- A "documentary" team shows the adventures of people at an office. It is the American version of a British show. Why I've seen it- I wanted to see what all the buzz was about. Pros- A lot of people like this show. It is on the top TV shows list on www.imbd.com. The critics like it. Cons- I don't know why people like this show. It isn't funny like it's supposed to be. I don't laugh when I watch it. Recommendation- Skip this show. It isn't good. Cancellation Reasons: The main character left and the whole ratings were declining anyways. I guess that people finally had enough of this crap. Grade: D-. Don't buy the DVDs, unless you want to waste your well earned money. Similar Shows: Arrested Development, Modern Family, Parks and Recreation.

 

Futurama: Description- In this animated comedy, a man from the present is frozen a thousand years into the future and we see his and his friends' antics in the future. Why I've seen it- I honestly forget how I got into it the first time. I might have watched it because it was an animated FOX comedy and I'm typically into that sort of thing. Noteworthiness- It started life on FOX and was then cancelled. After a while, it got some straight to DVD movies before finally returning to television on Comedy Central. Every episode of it has a commentary on DVD, something no other show has. It has also had more series finales than any other show because of its uncertain future. Notable People- Matt Groening, a comic strip and comic book writer as well as the creator of The Simpsons is the creator of this show. Katey Segal from Married with Children, 8 Simple Rules, and Sons of Anarchy is one of the voice actors. Pros- It is quite funny and unique. It is one of the most quotable TV shows. A lot of people like this show. Cons- There is a lot of sex present in the show as usual. It is more of a cult show and thus not as interesting to those outside of the cult. Recommendation- I like and I think that everyone else should watch it. Cancellation Reasons- Low ratings, I guess. Also, a lot of people thought that the newer episodes were inferior to the old ones, which they weren't. Grade: A. If you can't buy the DVDs for yourself, you should still borrow them from a friend or brother to watch sometime. Similar Shows: The Simpsons, Family Guy.

 

The Jeff Probst Show: Description- Jeff Probst hosts a talk show full of human interest stories. Why I've seen it- Since I'm a big Survivor fan, I figured that I'd watch the same host from that show hosting this show. Notable People- Jeff Probst, the host of Survivor, is the host of this talk show, as is kind of obvious by the name of the show. Pros- He rarely does anything related to Survivor so it isn't obvious as to what will happen. He includes his audience members in his show sometimes and keeps things interesting by not always having the same format. The everyday person is included as well as the famous ones. Cons- Since there aren't always celebrities, it isn't always that interesting. Maybe he should have included more about Survivor on his show like post-boot interviews in order to keep things interesting for everyone. A lot of the show just seemed like filler that should have had more important stuff in it. Recommendation- I'd say that you should watch it if it fits in your schedule, but since it isn't on the schedule anymore, I can't quite say that now can I? Cancellation Reasons- Low ratings as well as an otherwise uninteresting format sometimes. Grade: B. Talk shows aren't released to DVD.

 

Smash: Why I've seen it- It sounded interesting and the critics (or critic where I live) love it. Plus, I was looking for a musical TV show since I'm otherwise uninterested in Glee. Noteworthiness- It is a musical drama, one of currently only two. Description- It is the behind the scenes look at the making of a Broadway play. Pros- This is a good idea and an alternative to Glee, if you need one. The songs are actually original. Cons- It is a rip-off of High School Musical (the movie), like Glee is. The morals are bad. Recommendation- I think that it is good enough to watch, but not important enough to watch all the time. Cancellation Reasons- Being a midseason replacement more than one didn't help it and NBC airing new episodes on Saturday was pretty much the nail in the coffin. Grade: B-. I don't know whether you should buy the DVDs or not. There is one at least. Similar Show: Glee.

 

Body of Proof: Description- A medical examiner helps solve murders with the help of others. Why I've seen it- Genuine interest in the show plus a gap in my viewing schedule. Notable People- Dana Delany from Desperate Housewives is in the show. Pros- You normally don't see this type of drama on television. It is different from the usual type of murder mystery show. Cons- It was probably a tad too dark and at times overdramatic. Recommendation- I like it and think that it was a good show to watch, although it has a lot of haters. Cancellation Reasons- The cast was changed in retooling. The ratings had been low for awhile, yet it kept avoiding cancellation. Plus there were all the haters that probably got in cancelled too. Grade: A-. If you aren't one of the haters, then you should buy the DVDs that exist.

 

Happy Endings: Description- I know what the original focus of the show was about, but I do not know what it is about now. People compare it to Friends which is the best way of saying what it is now. Notable People- Casey Wilson from Saturday Night Live is a cast member. So is Damon Wayans Jr. Why I've seen it- Good lead-in plus general interest in the show. Pros- Unlike most second halves of a comedy slot, this is something I don't mind watching. It can be quite entertaining. Cons- It is hard to tell what the show is about. It can be pretty weird. Recommendation- You might as well watch it unless something better is on. Cancellation Reasons- People stopped watching and the show got isolated by itself to Fridays. Grade: B+. I like it so maybe you should buy the DVDs. Similar Shows: How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory.

 

CSI: New York: Noteworthiness- It is the third addition to the CSI franchise and the only one to not have a spin-off. It was a direct spin-off of CSI: Miami. Why I've seen it- Regularly watched CSI: Miami and decided to watch this as well. Description- A team of Crime Scene Investigators in New York City helps solve crimes. Pros- It is a different CSI if you don't like the other two. The cast from this show has changed the least. Cons- Like the other two, women aren't represented well in it. The plots can be dark. A lot of shows exist already like it. Recommendation- Take it or leave it. Cancellation Reasons- With another CSI on CBS, it's likely that they'd keep at least it and not need this one anymore. The Friday night time slot didn't help. It didn't have a full season which is normally a death sentence for a show on this network. Also, it had low ratings. Grade: C. If you like crime dramas, then you should get the DVDs. Similar Shows: CSI, Criminal Minds, The Mentalist.

 

Vegas: Description- This is about a famous sheriff from Las Vegas. It is a historical drama with period crimes, outfits, and anything else. Why I've seen it- Personal promise to watch every new show on the CBS television network. Notable People- Cursed actor Jason O'Mara from various cancelled shows is on this show. So are other actors whose names I can't spell. Pros- Not the same as every other show. Cons- When I saw it, I didn't understand how it was the most watched new drama. Was CBS lying about its ratings like all networks typically do about every new show? (Think for the last time that you saw a new show that wasn't promoted as a hit. I don't think that they've EVER done this.) To me, it seemed dull. They could have easily made this a present day drama without having to have all the constant changes that they have to make in order to make it seem like the past. I was unimpressed. If I knew who these people were, then maybe I would like it. But I have no reason to tune into this in the future. Cancelation Reasons- I think I pretty much summed it up in the cons section. Plus, nobody really liked it. Grade: D. Don't buy the DVDs that probably won't be released.

 

Go On: Description- This NBC comedy is about a man played by Matthew Perry who joins a support group dealing with loss in life. Why I've seen it- I thought that it might be good. Notable People- Matthew Perry from Friends is the main character. There's a least one other person whose name I can't remember. Pros- It is actually quite humorous given its rather grim concept. I think that this show is good. Cons- It had typical inappropriate material that typically appears in every TV show. Cancellation Reasons- Low ratings are pretty much all I can think of. Grade: B+. If they do release it to DVD, you might like it. Then again, you might not because if people liked it, then it wouldn't have gotten cancelled.

 

Golden Boy: Description- A man seeks to become the youngest police commissioner in New York's history. This shows his quest to do it. Why I've seen it- I watch every CBS show if I can find the time to do it. Pros- It is pretty similar to every other crime drama, so you know what to expect. Cons- It is boring and generally uninteresting. Recommendation- Don't bother watching it. No one else has. It just seems dull. Cancellation Reasons- It was dead on arrival being a midseason replacement drama on CBS. If you can remember that last one that was a success on this network, let me know because I can't remember. Was it The Unit? Grade: C-. Don't buy the DVDs that might not be released.

 

Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23: Description- Advertised as the next odd couple, the show is about two women who are now roommates where one is a real, well, bitch. Why I've seen it- I don't remember why I watched it, but it was probably because nothing good was on. Pros- It got a well deserved cancellation. Cons- It aired on television. It is awfully immoral and pretty much stupid. It has a horrible title. Recommendation- I'd say not to watch it, but I have the feeling that you already took that advice. Cancellation Reasons- It should have had a better title and the time it premiered on the network makes it surprising that there was a second season. Grade: F. If there are DVDs, which I doubt, don't waste your money.

 

Up All Night: Description- The adventures of a married couple who recently became parents and their friends. Why I've seen it- I thought that it might be good and I had free time to watch it when it was on. Notable People- Will Arnet, the estranged husband of Amy Poehler, was on the show. Maya Rudolph, formerly from SNL was also on it. Christina Applegate, from various shows, was on it as well. Pros- It isn't your typical comedy. It can be quite humorous sometimes. Cons- There isn't much to the show. Recommendation- I like it and thought that it was pretty good. Cancellation Reasons- Due mostly to low ratings, the problems from there only got worse. A proposed retooling of the show was going to happen, but the episodes were never made because of problems like an actress walking off set, another one getting pregnant, and another actor was in a pilot. Grade: B-. I'm not sure if there are DVDs and I'm not sure if you should be them. Similar Show: Raising Hope.

 

The New Normal: Description- A woman volunteers to be a surrogate mother for a gay couple. Why I've seen it- I'm thinking that it had a good lead-in and nothing else was on. Notable People- Ryan Murphy helps do the show. Pros- Not many shows are like it. It helps makes gays look good. Cons- It is boring and otherwise uninteresting. It isn't that funny and doesn't seem that good. Recommendation- I wouldn't watch it, but you can't anymore anyways. Cancellation Reasons- Few people cared about it or the show on before it. Grade: D+. Don't buy DVDs.

 

How to Live with Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life): Description- A recently divorced mother moves back in with her parents. Why I've seen it- I thought it might be good and I figured that nothing else was on. Noteworthiness- It just might be the TV show with the longest title ever. Notable People- Sarah Chalke from Scrubs and other shows is on the show. Brad Garrett, known mostly for being a voice actor as well as a cast member from Everybody Loves Raymond is also on the show. There might be more, but I don't know who they are. Pros- It has its moments of humor. Cons- Not much interesting happens in it. It is unrealistic. Recommendation- Take it or leave it. Cancellation Reasons- The critics hated it and the viewers felt the same way as well. Grade: C. I doubt that they would release this, but if they do, I wouldn't buy it unless you were more impressed with it than I is.

 

Malibu Country: Description- A woman gets divorced due to a cheating husband and moves her family to Malibu. Why I've seen it- Nothing else was on at the time. Notable People- Reba Macintyre, a singer/actress, is the main character. Pros- It's a well used concept so you know what you are getting into. Cons- It is pretty much a rip-off of Reba, a much better version of this show. This doesn't seem any different or better. Recommendation- Toss-up. Cancellation Reasons- No one cared. Grade: B-. I'm not sure if you should buy DVDs that will probably not come out.

 

1600 Penn: Description- This is a comedy about the fictitious version of the first family, or president's family. Why I've seen it- Good lead-in at the time combined with free time. Notable People- Jenna Elfman, known mostly as Dharma from Dharma and Greg is the first lady. Pros- It is quite humorous sometimes. It is unique. Cons- It can be uninteresting. There's not much of a reason to stay into it all the time. Recommendation- I liked it. Cancellation Reasons- Not really the type of thing people wanted to watch, I guess. Grade: B-. I'd say buy the DVDs if you care.

 

Flashpoint: Description- The police strategic response unit (SRU) handles tense situations that normally involve hostages. Why I've seen it- It seemed interesting and other people I knew also liked it and wanted to watch it. It has become one of my favorite shows on television. Noteworthiness- It is actually a Canadian show that aired here first on CBS then on ION. Like most Canadian shows that air in the US, it was mostly shown during the summer. Notable People- Amy Jo Johnson, most well known as Kimberly from the original Power Rangers, was a cast member. Enrico Colantoni, from Just Shoot Me and various other shows, was also a cast member. He has a recurring role on Person of Interest, so we might be seeing more of him on that show since he won't be on this anymore. Pros- The drama is very intense and realistic. It is hard to stop watching once you've started with an episode. There is a recurring storyline, but not that much to deter new viewers from watching. Cons- Not all the endings are entirely happy. Recommendation- I think that you should watch it if you can. Cancellation Reasons- I can't say much about the Canadian ratings, but I know that CBS airing it on Fridays during the summer probably helped kill it here. But I guess that in Canada, the people behind the show just wanted to call it quits and move on to other interests in life. Grade: A+. Buy the DVDs if you have money.

 

Guys with Kids: Description- A bunch of male friends and their wives deal with being new parents. Why I've seen it- Good lead-in, recommendation by a friend, and free time. Notable People- Jimmy Fallon, known for his work on SNL and Late Night, helped create the show. Pros- It isn't on the air anymore. Cons- The show is very dumb and pointless. Recommendation- Don't watch it. Cancellation Reasons- Nobody did watch. Grade: D-. Don't buy DVDs.

 

The Job: Description- Different candidates compete for jobs with different companies. Why I've seen it- Nothing good was on. Pros- A show like this doesn't really exist. Cons- It is boring and doesn't really add anything to the television landscape. Recommendation- Don't watch it because it isn't good. Cancellation Reasons- Very low ratings combined with general lack of interest. Grade: F. There won't be DVDs so you can't buy them anyways.

 

Touch: Description- The links that connect those to others are explored quite beautifully in this wonderful show. Why I've seen it- It looked good and I was right. Notable People- Kiefer Sutherland, known as Jack Bauer on 24, is the lead in this show as well. Pros- It is remarkably well-done from the acting to the script. Guest stars are important character too. There's a storyline that keeps people interested in it. Cons- I'm not entirely sure if there's accuracy with the foreign language scenes. It is hard to find a general genre for this show. One wonders how realistic it is. Recommendation- It's a great show and I recommend that everyone watch it. It has become my favorite drama ever. Cancellation Reasons- The second season was noticeably different from the first and some might say of poorer quality. It was delayed until midseason and then aired on Fridays. I'm not sure that it was originally going to be in the schedule in the first place and television is never good to a last minute addition to it. It never really found its place on television and the network didn't like it that much. Grade: A+. Buy the DVDs if you can afford them or hope that someone else gives them to you.

 

Trust us with Your Life: Description- A team of improvisation actors use a celebrity to act out parts of their lives. Why I've seen it- I like this type of comedy and had time to watch it. Notable People- The celebrity guest is usually someone people have heard of. Jonathan Magum, the announcer on Let's Make a Deal was on the show. Wayne Brady, from many different shows was also on it. Fred Willard, known mostly to me as the father of Amy on Everybody Loves Raymond, was the host. There might have been other famous people that I'm forgetting. Pros- Like all comedies of this type, what the actors come up with at the topic of their head is very clever and funny. Cons- The show didn't last that long. Recommendation- I'd say watch it, but you can't. Unless, of course, you did when it was on. Cancellation Reasons- I'm not sure why this was cancelled. It could be because of little to no advertisements that it even existed during the summer. It could also have been to legal problems Fred Willard had at the time. Also, the low episode number that they ordered might have led to its demise. Grade: A. Similar show: Whose Line Is It Anyways?

 

Other cancelled shows

 

Do No Harm (I never saw it, but I heard that this Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde show suffered from historically low ratings, even for NBC. It left the airwaves almost as soon as it got here).

 

Animal Practice (A show that probably had PETA going crazy was about an animal hospital. I don't know if anyone cared enough about it for it to be considered good or bad. I was never interested in it to watch it and I don't think that we are losing anything by its cancellation).

 

90210 (This was a remake of a famous FOX show, only it was on the CW instead of FOX. I don't know why it was made and I guess not enough people were interested to keep this from avoiding cancellation).

 

Gossip Girl (I never saw this, but the promos for it made it look like a dumb and slutty show of sorts. It was based off a book series and even tried to have a spin-off. The ratings must have decreased or something and thus the show was cancelled).

 

Cult (I've seen parts of this show that a local reviewer gave half a star to. I can't really understand what it was about and I'm guessing that nobody else did because they didn't watch it either. Basically, it wasn't worth anyone's time).

 

The Family Tools (The only thing notable about this show was Leah Remini, from The King of Queens and The Talk. I don't really understand what it was about since I never saw it, but it was pretty much dead on arrival. In fact, I don't understand why ABC keeps airing shows as late in their schedule since they normally always fail like that).

 

Zero Hour (I saw one episode of this show and had no idea what it was about. I really don't understand why it would have lasted since nothing about it made any sense).

 

Private Practice (I tired getting into it, but I saw it at the wrong time and promptly lost interest in it. It was a doctor show and spin-off of Grey's Anatomy. Not enough people were into it and it actually lasted longer than it should have. But it got a fitting ending, I think, although I never saw it. It remains in syndication).

 

666 Park Avenue (A devilish drama starring Terry O'Quinn was called by many to be dumb. I never saw it, so I hope that they were right. Hurricane Sandy didn't help this show's chances since the set was destroyed during the storm. That helped bring in the end).

 

The Mob Doctor (Seriously, I think that if you read the title of that show again, you can understand why it was so lame and got cancelled).

 

Fringe (This was FOX's lowest rated show for many seasons and yet it kept getting renewed for reasons that I'll never understand. If you know why, feel free to comment on this blog so I can understand. With ratings that low all the time, the end of this show was inevitable).

 

Rules of Engagement (I thought that it was cancelled last season, but it wasn't. Chances are that even though it is cancelled, it still might return in the future somehow like it normally does. Or maybe it won't since CBS is airing it as the series finale, something uncommon for most cancelled shows. You can read my previous review of what I thought of this show. It always seemed to fill the gaps the CBS's schedule anyways. The average person could tell that CBS hated this show and only kept it around because they had no good reason to get rid of it. They even considered airing new episodes on Saturday. I guess the role of filling voids in the schedule will go to some other new comedy of some sort. Since the show was always filler anyways, it's hard to say it really deserves to go on, and thus gets cancelled. But at least it's in syndication for the few people that like it).

 

Bachelor Pad (The only thing lamer than the actual Bachelor or Bachelorette is a bunch of contestants from that show doing meaningless crap. It's easy to see why it finally got the cut).

 

America's Most Wanted (A show that was about real criminals must have been too gruesome for viewers. Since the show was never really advertised and mostly aired on Saturdays before it left network television that might explain why nobody was interested anymore).

 

The Anderson Cooper Show (Some talk shows have interesting formats with interesting guests. Others have nothing of interest most of the time. This was the second one and like many lame talk shows, it was boring. Unlike most lame talk shows, it actually managed to get cancelled).

 

Deception (I don't know what this show was about and nobody really cared).

 

The LA Complex (I could never sit through a whole episode of this show, it was that bad. Some might have liked it, but with the lowest rated series premiere in American television history, one can be surprised it lasted as long as it did. I don't know if the record was beaten by Do No Harm or not).

 

Rock Center with Brian Williams (A news show on NBC was mostly lame from the start. The host still has jobs elsewhere on the network, but he has one less way of appearing).

 

Whitney (Some random person online said that the whole cast of this show should be killed off. They got their wish. I never saw it so I don't know how bad everyone thinks it was).

 

Judge Joe Brown (I don't know how this show is different than all the other judge shows. Maybe it is and maybe it isn't. If you are a fan, feel free to make your case in the comments section. All I know is that some contract dispute prevented him from making future seasons. Like I said before, it shouldn't be a problem since there are still a score of other courtroom shows still on the air).

 

The Ricki Lake Show (This was another lame talk show that seemed even dumber than most. That's all I have to say about that).

 

Red Widow (apparently a woman's husband died and she owes a debt to the mob that he had. If that sounded lame to you, that probably explains why it was cancelled).

Shows in Limbo

 

Limbo is a horrible place for a show to be in. It is hard to tell what the fate of a show here is. Is it cancelled? Will it air? What happened? When I say that a show is in limbo, it means that it isn't airing, it isn't cancelled, and we have no clue as to what actually happened with it.

 

Friend Me on CBS: This was supposed to be a comedy airing on the network at some point. As of the last week of May, there have been no signs that it will air at all. While it is unusual for a show to be cancelled before it airs the first time, it has happened before to a lot of shows. Wikipedia even has a list of them, if you're interested. Why hasn't it aired? The creator of the show committed suicide, and thus it would be hard to sell something like this as a sitcom. It's not on the schedule for next season and if it doesn't air this summer, it looks like it won't air at all. Proof of the network's refusal to air it could be seen earlier this year when Partners, a crappy show, lasted longer than it should have and was followed by a bunch of random reruns in the spot that it should have aired. I wouldn't be surprised if we never saw it. I just wonder why a blank spot of half an hour is better than this. Unless the name has been changed to Friends with Better Lives, we have no idea what happened to it

 

The Cleveland Show on FOX: The show is no longer producing any new episodes. It has not been cancelled nor has it been renewed. It is probably in the same situation Family Guy was when it was cancelled the first time. Another whole season could be made before it is cancelled officially. Maybe they'll still be new episodes in the future, but once again, we have no idea for sure. It probably is cancelled, but I don't know for sure.

Random Post

So I've been writing a personal document regarding dead actors affects on the TV shows that they were on. I've decided to include it in my post today. Also, I will be talking soon about the winners of the Sliver Globe Awards plus information on cancelled shows this season. I won't do it yet. But I hope that you enjoy my random ramblings in this random post and John Ritter as Paul Hennessy on the TV show 8 Simple Rules. I've given that show an A+. Hopefully, this posts well. I could give a more definite review of the show later. I also don't know if I will do this with Survivor contestants or not, but if I do, that would be on my Survivor blog and not here. Besides, only one of them has died so far. Anyways, I hope that you enjoy this post.

Season 1

 

Pilot

 

This is the first appearance of Paul Hennessey. We look at his relationships with his kids. He favors the boy, Rory, and takes special care of his two daughters. He's taking more responsibility in the house so his wife can go back to work. He is not a cool father, at least, not to his two daughters. He works at a newspaper and is a writer. He is now a columnist instead of sports writer of the month. He is an ineffective father. He is the main character of the show. He is seen as overprotective. He doesn't like his daughter's boyfriend. He can be a good father sometimes. He will work at it in the future. No one paid him any value. That's all he needed. He is full of pride and doesn't know it. He shouldn't be full of pride. He is too carefree. He doesn't see the value in others. Kerry Says, "I don't call you man with ax in head (link to Trick or Treehouse)."
He is concerned about what is right, at the sacrifice of others. No one was concerned with why he acted this way. Don't tempt me. You got to let me in sometimes. A smile that can stop my heart. He did this for the right reasons. This is a bad place. They've changed.

 

Wall of Shame

 

Do the right things for the right reasons. He would get up for a plague. I'm a man, not a miracle worker. At least I said it. I'll care even more when the game's over. See, I do listen. He daughters think that he's a bad father. He doesn't know what the right thing to do is. Rory knows how to use Paul to his advantage. He seems more concerned, at first, about sports than raising his own kids. He doesn't listen to his children that much. He winds up on the wall of shame by the end of the episode. He also never cared about the game in the end. So he didn't get what he wanted in the end, but at least he did the right thing and cared about his children.

 

Bridget's First Job

 

No can be a good thing. Fiscal responsibility is the point of the episode. Jobs don't grow on trees. How can you blame tops and pants for the downfall of society? It's worth being lonely if it means being a good dad. He didn't realize that his daughter could be a success, but he is proud of her. But he is right that Bridget does not know the right thing to do sometimes.

 

Wings

 

The episode revolves around Bridget getting a driver's license. Kate says, "I can see why Paul we need milk can be hard to understand." That's a link to Goodbye. There is also a subplot revolving around Kerry's art work. Do you really think that you can get through life on looks alone? Paul doesn't like his child driving the car. Ironic statement by Kate: "There's nothing wrong with your heart, Paul." He was being mean at to Bridget. He needs to learn how to let go.

 

Son-in-Law

 

The plot revolves around Bridget breaking up with Kyle over a dream and Kerry dating for the first time. He is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. He is used by his daughter who knows a famous sports player. His daughter really does know how to play him. But he gets what he wants in the end and there's no way to control him all the time.

 

Cheerleader

 

The plot revolves around an opening in the cheerleading squad. Paul was once a yell captain (like a cheerleader), but his own wife didn't know. Kerry gets the place, but Bridget was the one who wanted it. He doesn't read parenting books, but only cares about them not having sex. He thinks that Kerry is the smart person and shouldn't be the cheerleader in the house, even though he was once the same thing.

 

Trick or Treehouse

 

This is a Halloween episode revolving around a Halloween tradition at the Hennessy house. There is an ironic statement about Paul in regards to the Ouija Board; I have it on good authority that Paul Hennessy is not dead. No one wants to sleep in the treehouse this time. People don't seem to like Paul and his crazy traditions. This will be their last time in the treehouse. The family will remember their last Halloween together for the rest of their lives. This and the pilot are the only two episodes to mention any of the 8 Simple Rules.

 

By the Book

 

The plot revolves around Paul trying a parenting book on his kids. Paul is once again accused of being a bad father, this time the worst father. His tactics are caught, but they soon discover that they could use it against him. In the end, it doesn't matter that his kids hate him.

 

Two Boys for Every Girl

 

The plot of this episode revolves around Bridget having two boyfriends at once. The family thinks that family gatherings are punishments. Paul likes to put the fear of God into any and all of his daughter's boyfriends. Paul thinks that honesty in the best policy and tries to fix his mistakes when things go wrong.

 

Give It Up

 

The plot of this episode involves a contest revolving around who would get to choose the location of the vacation in the future. In the end, no one really succeeds in their mission. Paul wants to make his family better. In the end, he gets his way. Definitely not one of their better episodes

 

Paul Meets His Match

 

In the Thanksgiving episode of the first season, Paul meets another overprotective father who is now his boss. His name is Nick Sharpe (first appearance) and is played by a familiar actor. He is considered a psycho dad because he is too overprotective and when he meets someone just like him, he doesn't think that he is being fair. In the end, Paul becomes more open to the boyfriends of his daughters. Kate's parents are mentioned, but are not seen on camera. That wouldn't happen until Goodbye when the actors who play them are cast.

 

All I Want for Christmas

 

This episode is a Christmas episode, of course. Paul is bad at giving gifts to his family. His daughter Kerry is trying to adopt a dog and that is the main point of the episode is on pet adoption. When it airs on television, it ends with a public service announcement. Paul wants to help his daughter with adopting dogs. There is also a subplot with his wife performing a solo at church on Christmas Eve. She sings well. The dog in this episode is never seen again, but is supposedly a part of the Hennessy family now. It is pretty good, even though it isn't Christmas.

 

Rory's got a Girlfriend

 

This episode involves the double standard. Why are there rules for dating the daughters, but not the son? Paul isn't involved much in the plot of this episode. Supposedly a statistic: 33% of kids are sexually active by the time they are freshman in high school. Paul is bad at math. Rory is as bad with the women as Paul was at his age. That's pretty much it.

 

Career Choices

 

The episode revolves around the future of Kerry and Bridget. Paul tries to promote Kerry's artwork at the school and probably crosses the line. Paul learns that he can't always be the best person and that the previous generation isn't always as smart. This episode is yet another example of how he isn't the best father.

 

Kerry's Big Adventure

 

This is a Kerry centric episode where Paul's influence is getting her to be less gloomy. He's also bad at keeping secrets.

 

Come and Knock on Our Door

 

This episode features homage to John Ritter's old show, Three's Company and a cameo by Don Knotts at the end of the episode. Paul is concerned that Kyle is now dating both of his daughters at once and doesn't know how to fix the situation. This is yet another example of Paul hating Kyle. That's because he kissed Kerry in the previous episode. The phrase "tears of a clown" is confused with "sexual healing." This episode makes fun of the premise of Three's Company.

 

Drummer Boy Part 1

 

Paul isn't the focus of this episode as much as Bridget is. Paul once again plays the overprotective father with potential boyfriends. This time, the man in question is a tutor to help her with learning a new musical instrument.

 

Drummer Boy Part 2

 

In this episode, it sort of continues the storyline from the previous episode. Paul still isn't the focus of the episode. He really doesn't know how to handle situations with boyfriends or potential boyfriends.

 

Cool Parent

 

Paul is considered a loser to his kids. He fell asleep at a party and became a hero to the kids. But in the end, he gave it up to do what's right.

 

Every Picture Tells a Story

 

Paul is given an opportunity to write a book for Carter Tibbits, a legendary racecar driver that is probably fictitious. He screws up the deal with a joke when his son took him seriously. But in the end, he does get to write the book as referenced in future episodes. But what becomes of it is unknown due to Paul eventual death.

 

Kerry's Video

 

Paul wants to help Kerry with a video. He also accidently breaks Bridget's nose when they are playing tennis. In the end, everything turns out okay.

 

Good Moms Gone Wild

 

Paul learns more about what his wife did during sophomore year of college when they were broken up. He is not the focus of the episode.

 

Career Woman

 

Paul wants to teach his son to not have a monkey. He also wants his wife to have a bigger job as a nurse. This episode is a good example of male/female relationships and could be a good example of something to show under the sexism part of an ethics class. Paul doesn't do much in this episode. The monkey is never seen again after this episode.

 

Queen Bees and King Bees

 

This episode focuses on the mean girl relationships in high schools and how they expand to Paul's life.

 

Bake Sale

 

One of my favorite episodes, Bridget is given a sack of flour to raise a baby for a health class assignment. Paul isn't the main focus of the episode. They treat the sack as a real baby but they end up using it for baking materials.

 

The Doyle Wedding

 

The whole family doesn't like the Doyle's and wants out of going to their wedding. But they end up going and they have a good time. Paul is as much a focus as the rest of the family.

 

Sort of an Officer and a Gentleman Part 1

 

Paul is writing Carl Tibbits's book. It is not known what becomes of it after his death. This episode isn't much of a Paul episode. It isn't really a two part episode. Bridget continues her relationship with Donny Doyle and Kate's sister comes to visit after her husband leaves her.

 

Sort of an Officer and a Gentleman Part 2

 

This is the first episode of the series that I ever saw. Paul wants to find out the mystery of a pregnancy test that he's found. At the end of the episode, it turns out that it's his wife's. The episode ends on sort of a cliffhanger that it resolved in the next episode.

 

Season 2

 

The first three episodes this season was filmed before John Ritter's death, but first aired after his death. That makes them the most valuable episodes this season with Paul Hennessy in them. They were introduced by Katey Sagal when they first aired. Also, The Hot List, YMCA and The Drug Dog, which would have had Paul in them, would live in future episodes.

 

Premiere

 

This episode continues the possible pregnancy of Kate's storyline from the last episode. I don't know why they were produced out of order and this was the third filmed and the first aired. Words from Bridget to her dad, "You don't deserve milk." That is a link to Goodbye. Paul looks different than he should which could show signs of John Ritter's impending sudden death. This episode does present a great what if moment. Kate could have still been pregnant and Paul could have still died. Although, he really was never supposed to anyways.

 

Sex Ed

 

I originally didn't like this episode because it was focused upon sex so much. I have since come to appreciate the episode. Not quite sure what to say except that Paul is bad at explaining sex to his kids and goes crazy sometimes.

 

Donny Goes AWOL

 

This is Paul Hennessy's last appearance on the show. Paul isn't as much the focus as Bridget is. Paul tries to get Bridget to do the right thing regarding the two boyfriends that she has. In the end, he succeeds. The last words spoken by Paul Hennessy as said by John Ritter, "Alright, I hope everybody read my column." That would become important in the next episode.

 

Goodbye

 

This is the most important appearance of Paul Hennessy. It's the episode where he no longer appears, but life goes on anyways, as it normally does when someone dies. It begins with a part of The Hot List, what would have been the fourth episode of season 2 had John Ritter not died. Although the death of Paul Hennessy is never directly stated and the reason for his death isn't either, we know that he is dead now and will never appear again. The family showed typical reactions with Rory getting mad at his dad and upset over what has happened, Kate wondering why God would plan this in her life, Bridget not liking how things ended between her dad when he died, and Kerry not understanding what happened. Life goes on, even though the main person had died. This is quite possibly the saddest episode of a sitcom in television history. But of course, I've lost my own father.

In 2012 the official count of Christmas commercials before Halloween was 27. The official number of commercials before the official Christmas season started on the Sunday after Thanksgiving is the number 200.

Thoughts on New Shows: Fall 2012

Sorry that this blog has been updated in a while. But I thought that you might enjoy the reviews of the new shows I've seen so far this season.

Thoughts on New Shows

 

Revolution: This NBC drama airs at 9:00 Central on Mondays. In it, a world has existed for fifteen years where electricity (supposedly) no longer exists anymore. A band of survivors try to make their way in this new world with what remains of the old one. It has already received a full season order, so the network has some faith in it. I think that it is an interesting concept that I'm surprised no one has come up with yet. So I think that it is worth your time. Grade: A-.

 

Partners: This show that airs on CBS at 7:30 Central is a comedy. If I understand this correctly, it has two roommates, once gay and one straight, as well as the people they are romantically involved with. It is by the creators of Will and Grace, which I've barely seen. This show is kind of interesting, but based on the episode I saw, it was very lame. It might not exist in a day where homosexuality wasn't as accepted as it sort of is today. It has its moments and isn't that bad. But I wouldn't give it that good a score either. In fact, I never would have watched it if it didn't have a good lead-in program. But since it did, I decided to watch it. Grade: C+

 

Ben and Kate: This show that airs on FOX at 7:30 Central is about a brother and sister in a strange blended family. It seemed both poorly written and poorly acted. I don't even quite know what it is about, but I would probably never watch it again. Grade: F.

 

Go On: This NBC comedy that airs on Tuesdays at 8:00 Central is about a man played by Matthew Perry who joins a support group dealing with loss in life. It is actually quite humorous given its rather grim concept. I think that this show is good. Grade: B+.

 

Vegas: This CBS drama on Tuesdays at 9 Central is about a famous sheriff from Las Vegas. It is a historical drama with period crimes, outfits, and anything else. When I saw it, I didn't understand how it was the most watched new drama. To me, it seemed dull. They could have easily made this a present day drama without having to have all the constant changes that they have to make in order to make it seem like the past. I was unimpressed. If I knew who these people were, then maybe I would like it. But I have no reason to tune into this in the future. Grade: D.

 

Emily Owens MD: A quirky new CW show about a neurotic doctor that is a mixture of both comedy and drama. The main part of this show is that even though high school is over, it can continue in your new job. I think it is great for everyone who hates school. I also think that it has a great place on a network that normally goes under the radar and may be the first medical drama that I could stay into all the time. So it will probably get cancelled since it is too good. But since CW shows can get away with low ratings, it has a better chance than others. Grade: A+.

 

The Neighbors: This is a comedy about aliens living in human form on earth and going through culture shock. It airs on ABC at 7:30. The concept isn't original (Similar shows are Mork and Mindy or 3^rd Rock from the Sun, neither of which I have seen), but the show does have its moments. I don't think that it is bad and it would only air on a network known for its strange comedies. I don't know if it will last or not, but I think that it is good enough to stay. Grade: C.

 

Arrow: The CW drama is about the comic book character Green Arrow. I have never read any of those stories, so I don't know if it is accurate or not to the source material. What I saw made it seem interesting enough and this network does need another hit. Grade: B.

 

Last Resort: This ABC drama at 7:00 Central is about treason and how it affects the country they were from and the country they turn to for help. After watching the first episode, it was hard to tell what the overall plot was or where they were going with this. It seemed overall dull and a waste of time. I will probably never watch it again as it moves too slowly to made sense or gather a following. In fact, it seems like ABC only would have created this show so that the set from Lost wouldn't be wasted and they could do more shows with it. Grade: F.

 

Elementary: This CBS drama that airs at 9:00 Central is another look at the Sherlock Holmes franchise. Watson is female for some odd reason. But the show, although Americanizing a British hit (which almost never works out for anyone), is probably a bigger hit than most people would think. Hopefully, it will work in the end and last a long time as I wouldn't mind watching it every week. How it will attract non Sherlock Holmes fans will take a while to see and there are already many classic Holmes fans who probably already hate what's been done to the show, such as turning Watson female. But I see it lasting a long time. Grade: A.

 

Made in Jersey: Never saw an episode and it got cancelled, the first of the season. Any fans of the show are probably upset, but any hashtags were used to promote it no longer are used. It might be burned out in the summer on Saturdays in primetime where the show will never be promoted or watched, but at least there is a hope for some of it to air. At least other new CBS shows get a chance to be a success, as most midseason replacements are normally dead on arrival on this network. That's why Undercover Boss is such a hit. How twitter is changing television

 

How often have you been watching a show and seen a strange mark that's advertising the show? Like, when you are watching The Mentalist and you see this: #thementalist. Well, TV is changing and everyone knows it. If you have a twitter like I do (@IamAdamDecker) than you may have seen these strange marks known as hashtags. Everyone on television is starting to use them. The official accounts of each network create the tags in order to see what people are talking about. These tags can be subjected to bashing and thus clog up all the official feeds. And shows can get cancelled as well as tags only existing for one specific episode. But these feeds are used in order to help promote the shows and get people talking about anything online. It appears that twitter has become the next useless thing that everyone goes to like wikipedia already is. But I hope that you enjoy the useless conversation, provided you have an account. It might be worth your time. Sorry this isn't a more in-depth blog post. But I'm sure that news and people like it have already written better stories about it. I'm still hoping that local TV critics in my area are writing articles about it. They can do a much better job about it than I'm doing right now. If you want to hire me as a critic, I'm available. I don't have anything better to do with my life. Send me a tweet sometime. I might be open, depending on if you're a real person or not. There are a lot of frauds out there on the web. You might even think that this account is fake. But I blog about whatever and figure that somebody would read it and like it.

Late Night Shows

Late at night some popular shows exist. I haven't seen all of them outside of network television, but I know enough about most of them. Almost all of them are talk shows, unless you are watching a syndicated show or not network television. Women are virtually non-existent at Late Night talk shows. I'll tell you about most of them.

 

Nightline is a half hour news show that airs on ABC right after the local news (if your region has local news on ABC). It covers news of current interest that is mostly national. It can be interesting sometimes, but it isn't always that good. I honestly don't know what a fair description of it is. But I normally watch this as an alternate to what I normally watch. Otherwise, I never would have seen it. In fact, the only reason that I've ever watched this show is because I was waiting to see what was on after it. But it can be good sometimes. Grade: B.

 

The Tonight Show is currently hosted by Jay Leno. A lot of people like him, but I don't find him very funny that much. Whenever there is a change of hosts, there is some great controversy which puts one of the hosts on another network. You'll find it on NBC after the news and was a great success when it started and was virtually unopposed for a while. I don't know if there have ever been guest hosts since Jay took over. But it isn't funny with him and he is too normal to be a talk show host. Grade: D.

 

The Late Show is currently hosted by David Letterman. It is on CBS after the news competing with The Tonight Show. From what I understand, the ratings are almost tied. It helps that they have different political views to catch different viewers which is why some people don't like this show. Also, some of the jokes tend to be repeated and you can get the impression that the live studio audience doesn't normally watch the show. It is, however, funny and can poke fun at stupid people and events (read, celebrities and politicians). The only person who has hosted a talk show longer than him (during the late night schedule, at least) was Johnny Carson, and by now that record will probably be outlived anyways. Grade: A.

 

Jimmy Kimmel Live is hosted by its namesake. It might be live or it could be almost live so the host doesn't do anything objectionable that can't be edited out. You can tell by the newness of everything on the show that he's talking about stuff that just happened. It is ABC's late night talk show which starts around 11 Central, although the time slot might be changing soon. It makes a nice alternative for me when other talk shows aren't on. The sketches are nice sometimes. I haven't seen it enough, but I think that it's good. The only problem is how it is on half an hour later than the others which suckers you in to Nightline which might interest you so it might not matter. Grade: B.

 

Late Night is currently hosted by Jimmy Fallon, the third host, although a different show aired before this one with other hosts. It is on NBC after the Tonight Show. It is interesting, but I haven't seen enough of it to know how good it might be. I think that it makes a good alternative, but I haven't seen a full episode to date. Grade: C.

 

The Late Late Show is currently hosted by Craig Ferguson, also the third host of the show. It is a CBS creation of David Letterman to compete against Late Night and might be winning. Craig is very good and might even be better than David Letterman (I said might). He mostly does improv, but some writers do help with something. Sometimes he has puppets do some jokes and his sidekick is a robot skeleton that says random stuff. He doesn't have a band and likes it that way. He also includes an email segment from everyday viewers. This show has to exist late at night or he wouldn't be allowed to be on basic television. I think that you should watch if you are still up that late. Grade: A.

 

Saturday Night Live is probably the last remaining variety show and sketch show. It has been on since sometime in the 70s when Gerald Ford was president. A lot of it is hit and miss. It continues the fact that every late night show is weird and couldn't exist nowadays on network television during the day. Some is good and some isn't. If you like it, then watch it. The cast is always famous even if you don't know who they were before the show which you normally don't. It will never die as any competition will not take more viewers away. But I do fear for the future of the show when Lorne Michaels dies. With NBC's luck, they will keep it going, but will finally launch a successful competition on another network as when Johnny Carson left The Tonight Show. The cast is also always changing and most of the humor is sex related. But it has its moments. Grade: B-.

 

Daytime Talk Shows

A talk show has one or more hosts talk about current issues, mostly having actors talk about their recent works or musicians playing their music. Depending on the show, there may be human interest stories. There is a mixture of genders, with some of them being hosted by men and others being hosted by women. A select few have one of each. Honestly, almost every talk show during the day hosted by a guy who's not Anderson Cooper isn't worth watching, although I haven't seen enough of them to know for sure. All I know is that The Jerry Springer Show was ranked as the number one worst TV show ever. Maury is almost as pointless and Dr. Phil may be good, but I don't know for sure. I will now tell you about some of them in no particular order.

 

The Talk: Where to find it- 1:00 Central on CBS. Edit as needed for your time zone. What's it like- It's an interesting talk show hosted by five women. It actually airs live unlike most talk shows which are filmed live, but have editing applied before it airs. They talk about current issues as well as interview guests. Notable People- Julie Chen, the host of Big Brother, is a co-host. Sara Gilbert from Roseanne is the creator of the show and a co-host. Sharon Ozbourne is also a co-host. Pros- This show can be quite amusing. It is much better than The View, although comparable to it. Cons- Like all talk shows, it can lose its edge when the guests come on. Since the show is only on CBS, they tend to favorite guests on CBS shows. Some of the issues addressed are quite trivial to anyone without a www.twitter.com account. Outcome: A great show that you might find interesting. It's my favorite talk show with an A+.

 

The Ellen DeGeneres Show: Where to find it- It is syndicated so you'll find it at different times on different channels but it might not be in your region. What's it like- This is also another good talk show which has won awards featuring people with their moments of fame, celebrities, and strange games played by the audience or guests. Pros- This is a good talk show where no one is the victim of the jokes. It is very funny and normally always appropriate. Also, the guests are almost always interesting unlike other shows where the coolness of the show ends when they come on. Cons- You might not like the political views that sometimes pop up or the gay rights views. Also, it is very random sometimes and hard to keep up with if you don't watch it all the time since there are constant references to other episodes. Outcome: Watch it if you like it. I give it an A-.

 

The Dr. Oz Show: Where it find it- It is syndicated and a spin-off of Oprah. What's it like- The famous doctor talks about health problems that you may not know about and what you should do about it. Pros- You might learn something. Cons- It's hard to know what really a problem worth worrying about or not is. Outcome: Not worth your time. I give it a D.

 

Live with Kelly: Where to find it- It is syndicated and is aired and filmed live at 9:00. It might be in your region. What's it like- Kelly Ripa hosts this show although they are looking for a co-host to share the hosting duties with her. For some odd reason, it has to be a guy and can't be a woman like her. It's first half has no break; its second half has short segments and lots of breaks. Pros- You might like it. It has a certain beat to it from show to show where almost nothing changes. Cons- The format is annoying. If you missed an episode, you'll probably never see it again. It is mostly geared at women and not men. Outcome: Take it or leave it. I give it a B-.

 

The 700 Club: Where to find it- It is syndicated so you'll have to search for it or you may not have it at all. What's it like- Pat Robertson as well as other people, host a Christian show full of the wonders of God and other interesting stories with guests, some famous. Pros- You hear great stories about miracles and how some people were turned to Christ. Cons- I used to watch this, well, religiously, but haven't seen it in a while. Their political views are off-putting to those of the other party. Sometimes it seems less like a confession of faith and more like the rants of a crazy man. Outcome: Take it or leave it. I give it a C+.

Here is information relating to PBS and shows found on it.

PBS offers a great variety of shows that are on at different times throughout the season. Some of it remains constant from time to time and others change. It offers a different feel than the other networks and you'll feel much better watching it then somebody getting murdered, reality shows, or what people think is funny. I will now tell you what is available.

 

McLaughlin Group: Description- A panel of people discuss current political affairs. It is filmed in Washington DC. There is the main person and two people for each political side. Pros- There is political discussion from both sides. The bickering can be quite funny. Cons- It is not for people who don't like to discuss politics. They are actually biased towards the right which although hard to notice, once I did I stopped watching the show. Recommendation- Watch it if you like it. I think that it is pretty interesting. Prediction- This show will never leave the air. Grade: B.

 

Nova: Description- This is an educational show about science. There are different versions like Nova Science Now and others. Pros- You can learn a lot from this show. Cons- It isn't for everyone because you could find it boring. Recommendation- Watch it if you like it which you might. Prediction- It will stay forever like it has to this point. Grade: A-.

 

Nature: Description- Basically, a show about nature, mostly animal life. You might find similar things on the Discovery Channel. Pros- It is very interesting to some people and might be to you. Cons- Some of what is shown is a bit gruesome. Recommendation- I like it and think that you should watch it if you have the time. Prediction- It will last forever. Grade: A.

 

Antiques Road Show: Description- It is a show about old objects and how much they are worth. Pros- You can learn a lot if you have something that you'd like to sell. Cons- It can be very boring at times. If you aren't interested, you won't like it. Recommendation- Take it or leave it. Prediction- Like everything on PBS, the moment it is cancelled is the moment that the world ends. Grade: B-.

 

American Experience: Description- This is a show about history that has happened in America. Pros- It is very interesting to those who are interested in American History. Cons- It is not interesting for those who don't. Recommendation- If you like it, then watch it if you can find it. Prediction- It will last forever. Grade: A.

 

Washington Week: Noteworthiness- It is a half-hour long show that is the longest running of its type on PBS. Description- This is an informative show on current political affairs and other news. Notable People- Gwen Eiffel hosts the show and the team is recognizable as well. Pros- The people talk about politics in a civilized way, without any bickering. You can learn a lot. Also, you here from both sides. Cons- Other good shows tend to be on at the same time. It can be hard to stay into week to week. Not interesting to those who hate politics. Recommendation- Watch this show if you can and you like it. Prediction- It will stay the longest running show on PBS of its type. Grade: A.
