Saturdays in Primetime Version 7

It seems that the CW keeps doing new shows on Saturdays so I keep doing these posts and it may yet get caught up and in line with all of the other days of the week. That’s cool. I also realize that it seems that I lose some review updates so I might end up redoing reviews I had done before but otherwise did not have in my updates, possibly from not knowing that they were coming back so I wrote them off as cancelled or I otherwise lost the review somehow, possibly not even including it in my blog in the first place by forgetting about it.

 

Criss Angel’s Magic with the Stars: Status- Currently on the CW at 8/7 Central on Saturdays. Why I’ve seen it- I promised myself that I would watch a new CW show at least once. Description- Two different celebrities compete against each other for stars while performing various magic tricks. Notable People- It is hard to say and explain who all is famous in this. But one is a famous magician named Criss Angel. The celebrity guests are also famous too, needless to say. Pros- It is a good show. The tricks are always entertaining and often done well. Cons- The stars, that is, those performing the magic, have to work more on the performance part of magic while also trying to perfect the tricks themselves. Some tricks aren’t performed as well as they could be. Note to Parents- There isn’t much wrong with the show outside of revealing outfits for women and the tricks being a bit dangerous. There is a warning not to try these tricks. Recommendation- This is worth watching. My Viewing Habits- Like any and all Saturday shows, I’ll watch what I can of this as it works out. Prediction- It has very low ratings given its poor timeslot so unless this gets a better timeslot, it won’t last at all. It has even gotten a 0.0 rating, the lowest possible in the demographic. Reception: somewhat good. Grade: B-. New review

 

World’s Funniest Animals: Status- Currently on the CW at 9/8 Central on Saturdays. Why I’ve seen it- I tend to watch a new CW show at least once. Noteworthiness- This was one of the shows that got to be on the air due to the pandemic as it could be produced remotely. Description- This is a viral video show of different videos featuring animals. Pros- People who like this type of show would like it and want to see it. Cons- This show is overall dumb, pointless, and not remotely close to funny. Note to Parents- I forget if this has anything objectionable or not. My biggest concern is potential physical comedy or animal mistreatment like abuse. Recommendation- Don’t bother with this. My Viewing Habits- I have only seen this once and won’t watch it again. Prediction- I have no idea what might happen with this show so I’m guessing that it won’t last anymore. Reception: bad. Grade: F. New review

 

48 Hours: Status- Currently on CBS at 10/9 Central on Saturdays. There are times when it fills gaps in the schedule caused by cancellations on CBS, although that hasn’t happened in a while. Why I’ve seen it- I guess it was just me wanting to watch something that was on, although on occasion, I was interested in what the episode was dealing with. Description- A true crime series that is basically a documentary type show exploring a criminal case. Pros- The episodes are typically quite interesting. Cons- It airs at a bad time. It can also be gruesome and drawn-out. Note to Parents- Don’t let your kids watch this. It is far too dark for them. Recommendation- I guess that this is worth watching from time to time, although I don’t typically go out of my way to watch it typically. My Viewing Habits- I have seen this at times, but don’t tune in most times as it isn’t my cup of tea. Prediction- Somehow it has remained a long time on the air despite it typically airing on Saturdays all the time. I imagine that it will continue to last a while. Reception: positive. Grade: C-.

Tuesdays in Primetime Version 8

Tuesdays are a competitive night on television. It is also when some of television’s most popular shows are on. The only problem is that the shows are so good, you won’t be able to watch them all. What all is good? Well, let’s delve into it.

 

The Resident: Status- Currently on FOX at 8/7 Central on Tuesdays. Why I’ve seen it- I watched this for my Good Wife blog and to fulfill my promise to watch a midseason replacement on FOX the season that it started. Description- This is a medical drama that features different doctors, some new, and there are various problems at the hospital at times. It seems a rather complicated plot that is hard to sum up easily. It should make more sense as it goes along. Notable People- This has Matt Czuchry who used to star in The Good Wife and Gilmore girls. Pros- It points out the flaws that can happen in a hospital, but does it in a good way. It can seem more humanizing than most medical dramas that I’ve seen in the past. Cons- It seems similar to House. The lead can be strange and arrogant. It is often too focused on sex at times. There are some medical stuff that you don’t know why it is there. Note to Parents- It airs with a content adversary warning in some episodes so that’s all you really need to know about it. Recommendation- I’d say that this is good to stay into if you want to. My Viewing Habits- I plan to watch this until the very end. Whether I’ll be able to see every episode or not remains to be seen. Prediction- This should last until it hits syndication. Reception: mixed. Grade: B.

 

FBI: Status- Currently on CBS at 9/8 Central on Tuesdays. Why I’ve seen it- It aired on CBS. Description- Needless to say, this is about the FBI and it features various threats that the team has to face. Notable People- This stars Missy Peregrym, who used to star in Rookie Blue. Dick Wolf, who created the Law and Order franchise and the Chicago franchise, also did this as well. Pros- It seems better than most shows are nowadays. Cons- Its main problem is being too generic. Note to Parents- This has the same sort of problems that you would often see on shows nowadays, but it is not nearly as bad as what you might see on other shows. Recommendation- I would say that one should watch this if one is able to. My Viewing Habits- I have watched this since the first episode, but have not seen every episode. Prediction- This will last until syndication. Reception: mixed. Grade: B.

 

FBI: International: Status- Currently on CBS at 9/8 Central on Tuesdays. Why I’ve seen it- I watch the other FBI shows so I might as well watch this one as well. Noteworthiness- This is the third show in the FBI franchise. Description- An FBI team investigates cases internationally. Pros- I like what I’ve seen of it. It works as a show. Cons- A lot of it can be cliché. Note to Parents- There have been sex scenes at times with potential romance issues that shouldn’t be happening. There are also the usual problems with crime and violence. Recommendation- This is worth the watch even if you don’t see the other shows in the franchise. My Viewing Habits- I haven’t seen all of the episodes, but I have seen this since the first episode. Prediction- It seems likely to last for now. It is renewed for another season beyond what it is airing now. Reception: good. Grade: A. New review

 

La Brea: Status- Currently airing on NBC at 9/8 Central on Tuesdays. Why I’ve seen it- It looked good and interesting. Description- A sinkhole appears in LA, but it appears to be in a wormhole to the past. This causes a man who has visions to seek for the people in the sinkhole to prove that they are alive as people seek to figure out what’s going on. Pros- It is quite interesting. You probably want to see what keeps happening on the show. Cons- This shows has typical science fiction clichés. It seems that some of the bare, basic elements of this could be ripping off Chrono Trigger. Note to Parents- Outside of maybe just the usual violence and a character obsessed with weed with other drugs being brought up as well, this doesn’t have much wrong with it. Recommendation- It is worth keeping up with as long as it lasts on TV. My Viewing Habits- While I have seen this from the first episode, I haven’t seen all of them. I plan to watch all that I can. Prediction- I think that this will last for now. We’ll see if it lasts longer and keeps up the good ratings that it currently has. Reception: negative. Grade: B. New review

 

Professionals: Status- Currently on the CW at 9/8 Central on Tuesdays. Why I’ve seen it- I pledged to watch every new CW show at least once. Noteworthiness- This is a foreign show that is airing on the CW. Description- I’m not entirely sure what it is about, but I can say that it appears that a criminal has been hired to help someone through a crisis. Notable People- Movie star Brandon Fraser is in this. Pros- It was good in some aspects. Cons- I couldn’t tell what it is about. Note to Parents- There were some issues with crime and violence. Recommendation- It is overall not worth keeping up with in the long run. My Viewing Habits- I watched the first episode of this and won’t be seeing it again. Prediction- I have no idea how much it has lasted internationally or if that means it will last in this country or not. Reception: somewhat good. Grade: D+. New review

 

Monarch: Status- Currently on FOX at 9/8 Central on Tuesdays. Why I’ve seen it- I vowed to watch a new FOX show at least once. Noteworthiness- This was meant to air last season, but delayed due to the pandemic. Description- What is described as the first family of country music has a lot of drama going on. Notable People- Some of the cast, be it regulars or guest stars, are notable celebrities. One of them is country music star Trace Atkins. Pros- It might work if you liked Empire. Cons- It didn’t really work. It seems to just want to be its own take on existing things, not being that good or different. Note to Parents- In the first episode, suicide was mentioned. Other violence and affairs happened as well. Recommendation- Don’t bother with it. My Viewing Habits- I watched the first episode of this and that will be all that I see of it ever. Prediction- The fact that this has not already been cancelled could be considered baffling. It will be. Reception: mixed to negative. Grade: F. New review

 

New Amsterdam: Status- Currently on NBC at 10/9 Central on Tuesdays. Why I’ve seen it- I forget why, but I think that I wanted to see it and a new fall show on NBC at the time. Noteworthiness- This is inspired by a true story, based off of a book that a doctor wrote about patients. Description- This is more or less a typical medical drama. Notable People- Ryan Eggold, who used to star in The Blacklist and The Blacklist: Redemption, is on this show. Pros- The main character is wonderful and you don’t see hook-ups like you normally would on most shows like this. Cons- It is hard to see what is different between it and other shows like it. Note to Parents- I think that this has always been TV-14 so it might not be a show that preteens and younger should watch. Recommendation- I think that one should watch it if one is able to. My Viewing Habits- I got into this a bit late, despite wanting to see it since the beginning. I have only seen the first episode of season 2 and haven’t watched past it thus far due to constant issues with this channel’s reception where I live until a bit after season 3 started. Prediction- It is officially airing its final season. Reception: mixed to negative. Grade: B.

 

The Rookie: Feds: Status- Currently on ABC at 10/9 Central on Tuesdays. Why I’ve seen it- I watch the original show so I might as well watch this as well. Noteworthiness- This is a spin-off of the show called The Rookie. Description- We see a new, older woman train to become a fed in addition to the other agents. Notable People- This has Britt Robertson from Life Unexpected, Under the Dome, For the People, and The Secret Circle. Pros- It works and is pretty good, even if you haven’t seen or don’t watch the original. Cons- It can be too much like existing crime shows. Note to Parents- This has about the same amount of problems that you would see in other shows. Recommendation- It is worth keeping up with and one should see it. My Viewing Habits- Prediction- It seems like it will last for now. Reception: bad. Grade: B. New review

 

FBI: Most Wanted: Status- Currently on CBS at 10/9 Central on Tuesdays. Why I’ve seen it- I watch the original so I figured that I might as well watch this too. Noteworthiness- It is a spin-off of FBI and by the same creator as it. Description- An FBI team tries to find the most wanted criminals. Notable People- Dylan McDermott from Law and Order: Organized Crime, Hostages, and Stalker. Pros- It seems like a good show that you would like and expect. Cons- I say that the problems with it are it seeming generic and like a carbon copy of the original with new characters instead of something new we could get from it. It is also much darker than it needs to be. Note to Parents- This probably doesn’t have as much of an issue as other shows do, but I would say that it might not be safe for the younger ones, but is probably fine for older kids. Recommendation- I think that one should watch this and one doesn’t yet have to see both this and the original in order to understand it. My Viewing Habits- I have seen this from the beginning and plan to watch it until the end. Prediction- This will last a while. It is renewed for next season. Reception: somewhat good. Grade: B.

Fridays in Primetime Version 8

Fridays are the least competitive nights on television although there are some good shows out there. Viewers aren’t regular, but those that are and even those that aren’t give the show these ratings. The CW shows Penn and Teller: Fool Us and Whose Line is it Anyways? CBS is showing Blue Bloods, Fire Country, and S.W.A.T. ABC is showing 20/20 and Shark Tank. NBC shows Dateline, Lopez versus Lopez, and Young Rock. FOX is now just airing Friday Night Smackdown, also known as WWE Smackdown. Beware that most of the shows come here to die and they are only here right now to enjoy them before they are gone, although some shows have thrived here since they have never really seen another night throughout most of their run or even after having previously not been on Fridays.

 

Lopez versus Lopez: Status- Currently on NBC at 8/7 Central. Why I’ve seen it- I now try to watch every new NBC show at least once. Description- This is a family sitcom with a woman reconnecting with her father and now roommate after a long time. Notable People- This stars George Lopez from the sitcom George Lopez and the late night show Lopez Tonight. Pros- You know what to expect from this. Cons- It was pretty dumb and didn’t work. Note to Parents- I didn’t think that there was much, of anything, wrong with this. Recommendation- Don’t watch this. My Viewing Habits- I watched only one episode of this and I’ll never see it again as I didn’t like it. Prediction- I’d put this as a toss-up for now. Reception: average. Grade: F. New review

 

S.W.A.T.: Status- Currently on CBS at 8/7 Central on Fridays. Why I’ve seen it- I always watch a CBS show once under most circumstances. Noteworthiness- This is a remake of a show with the same name. Description- This is about a team of people who try to help others in different situations. Just insert standard CBS drama into the plot line here. Notable People- It stars Shamar Moore, who used to star in Criminal Minds. Pros- The show works and has interesting plots. Cons- It doesn’t seem that different from other shows. Note to Parents- This has the standard amount of material that you would find wrong with a show. It has more violence in it than sex, but there is a bit of the second one on occasion. Still, there are worse shows in terms of violent content. Recommendation- I think that it is good to watch, unless you have better things to do with life. My Viewing Habits- I missed the first episode due to issues with the recording of it, but stayed with it from the second one onward. Prediction- This seems likely to last. Reception: mixed. Grade: A.

 

Shark Tank: Status- Currently on ABC at 8/7 Central on Fridays. Why I’ve seen it- I was flipping channels and stayed here because it seemed interesting. Description- A reality show where a group of rich sharks, as they’re called, decide whether or not to buy into a business of an entrepreneur. Pros- The segments are usually short and the decisions are interesting. It can be very intense. These are actually proceedings among people which makes it more real. Cons- You may not like their decisions. It is hard to find a rerun. You might not watch unless you’re a regular viewer. Note to Parents- Mostly everything in this is acceptable for kids. Maybe some products pitched aren’t for kids, but most of the episodes are okay for younger audiences. Recommendation- Take it or leave it. I like it and you might but whether you should watch or not is up to you. My viewing habits- Prediction- It will stay on as it gets good ratings on Fridays. I’m not sure what could end it, although it getting different people doing the deals might cause some problems. Reception: positive. Grade: B+.

 

Penn and Teller: Fool Us: Status- It airs on the CW at 8/7 Central on Fridays. Why I’ve seen it- It being a magic show interested me enough into watching it. Noteworthiness- Originally, this was a foreign series that had lasted a single season and was cancelled. It aired in Britain, but not in America for a while. After it aired in this country, the show was brought back for a second season and it has been on the CW during the summers and oddly timed reruns and other episodes since then. Description- Various magicians compete for a chance to be an opening act for Penn and Teller. They get to do a trick for them and get to be the opening act if Penn and Teller can’t explain how the trick was done. Pros- With a standalone format, this is the type of show that you don’t have to watch every week. The tricks are entertaining, regardless of if Penn and Teller are fooled. You get to see them perform a trick at the end of the show to keep things interesting. Cons- Whether or not Penn and Teller are fooled, we don’t know what the secret is behind the trick. So, basically, if people don’t fool Penn and Teller, we still don’t know how they aren’t fooled. I will say this, though, the tricks that fool tend to be better. Also, it can be rather annoying when people who have been on before, especially if they have already fooled them, are back on another time. Note to Parents- Anything potentially offensive in this show is relatively minor compared to most other shows. I’d be wary of the sexual things that show up from time to time. Recommendation- If you can watch it, then you probably should. My Viewing Habits- I haven’t always watched this compared to other shows. I do watch it if there is nothing notable I feel competes with it, which it doesn’t at the time. Prediction- I think that this show will last a while, although it will obviously end if something happens to Penn and/or Teller. Whether or not the buyout of the CW means that this could be ending soon is unknown, but likely. Reception: positive. Grade: B-. Move to Fridays

 

Young Rock: Status- Currently on NBC at 8:30/7:30 Central on Fridays. Why I’ve seen it- When I was wanting to see the last episode of Mr. Mayor live, this was what aired with it so I watched it once to see what it was like. Noteworthiness- This is based off of the life at past of Dwayne Johnson. Description- Dwayne Johnson tells the story of his life set in multiple parts of the past. Notable People- Notable wrestler and actor Dwaine Johnson is the star of the show. Randall Campbell from Fresh off the Boat is another character as well. Pros- It works as a story structure. Cons- It seems dull and uninteresting. Note to Parents- I don’t think that much was wrong with it. Recommendation- Don’t bother with this show at all. My Viewing Habits- I watched it once and won’t be seeing it again. Prediction- It seems likely to last for now. Reception: good. Grade: D. New review

 

Whose Line is it Anyways?: Status- Currently on the CW at 9/8 Central on Fridays. Why I’ve seen it- I liked the original show and am a general fan of improvised comedy. Noteworthiness- It is the remake of an ABC show and retains much of the original cast. Description- A group of comedians make up stuff and make us laugh while competing for meaningless points. Notable People- There are guests from certain shows that are noteworthy, whether they are the fourth member of the group (which changes) or a different special member. Aisha Tyler, who used to co-host the Talk, is the current host of this show. Pros- This is more or less the same great show that we all knew and loved when it first aired. Most of the original cast is back. Even though everything is made up, it still manages to be really funny. Cons- There are normally guests on the show that tend to slow things down and take away from the talent of the true part of the show. There tends to be some sexual related things that come up often enough. Note to Parents- Some of the humor is not things you’d want your kids watching, but most of it is okay and shouldn’t cause any problems if they watch it. Recommendation- You should probably watch it. I don’t know why one wouldn’t like this. My Viewing Habits- I try to watch this as often as possible, although I know that I miss it a lot. I watched the original version when it was on too and plan to keep watching it until it ends. I haven’t seen it when other shows I like compete against it. Prediction- This is officially airing its penultimate season right now. Reception: positive. Grade: A+.

 

Dateline: Status- Currently on NBC at 9/8 Central on Fridays. Why I’ve seen it- Nothing else on and it seemed interesting. Noteworthiness- It is the longest running primetime news show on NBC and sometimes airs multiple times in one week. Description- Pretty much an NBC version of 20/20. I don’t know which came out first. Pros- It can be interesting. Cons- It can only be interesting if you like it. I haven’t seen enough of it to find out how different it is from other networks versions of this show. They mostly only do murder mysteries from real life. The promos for it make it seem like if you watch TV on your own, you are better off without it. Note to Parents- This show is gruesome a lot with what they show on it. They even promote it in a way that implies that the squeamish shouldn’t watch it, at least by themselves. So you probably shouldn’t let your kids watch this. Recommendation- Take it or leave it. My viewing habits- I watch at times but normally don’t care enough as I don’t like true crime shows that much, although this does catch my interest at times, but not always. Prediction- It will last forever. Reception: mostly positive. Grade: B.

 

20/20: Status- Currently on ABC at 9/8 Central on Fridays. Why I’ve seen it- It looked interesting when I first saw it. Noteworthiness- It is the longest running primetime news show on ABC and the longest running ABC show in primetime at least. It premiered when Jimmy Carter was president. Description- This is an in-depth news show regarding issues relating to current events or just anything like a murder mystery. Pros- Can be quite interesting if you don’t watch anything else at that time. Cons- There’s a show like this on every network. Re-runs rarely exist. Some episodes are better than others. It can be hard to watch all the time. Note to Parents- If you typically let your kids watch the news, then this is something you can let them watch. Although, I’d honestly stay clear of letting most kids watch this as it is far too grim for them. Recommendation- I like it, but don’t watch it unless I know that I want to. Maybe you’ll like it or consider it a complete waste of time. My Viewing Habits- I don’t watch all the time, but I do when it works out although I tend to avoid the murder mystery episodes. Prediction- It will last unless something weird happens. Reception: currently positive, although the first episode was panned which lead to a retooling of the good show we know today. Grade: A.

 

Blue Bloods: Status- Currently on CBS at 10/9 Central on Fridays. Why I’ve seen it- It is on CBS. Nothing else good was on. Description- This is a cop show where the cops are related. It is set in New York City. Notable People- Tom Selleck from Magnum PI and movies is a character. Donnie Walburg, who is in the band New Kids on the Block, is a character as well. Pros- Something good exists on Friday nights for you to watch. A partial family aspect is added to the show which makes it more relatable. They rarely deal with murder and seem to deal with every sort of crime and problems that you might hear about in real life. Cons- The ways the officers catch and interrogate some of the suspects/criminals is unethical some of the time. It can be like a lot of other dramas. They have made some questionable off-camera choices regarding at least one actress who works on the show. Some episodes are better than others. There have been some episodes which use unfair stereotypes for villains. Note to Parents- This is better in terms of what is acceptable to show your kids than a lot of shows are. Recommendation- Take it or leave it. I like it. You might too. My Viewing Habits- I have seen most episodes and watched this from the very first episode. Prediction- It will stay around for a while unless they decide to end it. It could wind up on the chopping block with little to no warning. Reception: mostly positive. Grade: B-.

Fall Shows 2022

In case you were wondering where this post was, there really was no reason for me to write it much earlier and what has been cancelled so far hasn’t been something that I needed to watch that was new. I can tell you that this is the first time in quite a while in which I didn’t have to split one of these into multiple parts. Now let’s get to the post that won’t include some streaming shows that are out now that I haven’t yet seen for other blogs.

 

‘Til Jail do us Part: Show Description- Women who are rich friends have to deal with their husbands being arrested and other issues. Behind the Scenes- Roselyn Sánchez, from Without a Trace and Fantasy Island, is one of the characters. My Thoughts- This show was pretty dumb and didn’t have much to it. You couldn’t gather much from the pilot as there wasn’t much to keep you coming back to this later. I give this one out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- I’m going to guess that this won’t last, even if I have no way of knowing for sure. Where to Find- This is streaming on Peacock, an online streaming site

Family Law: Show Description- Family drama comes to a head in various ways as a lot of family members now work together in court dealing with other family cases and their own drama as well. Behind the Scenes- This is a Canadian show that is now airing in the US. It stars Jewel Staite from Firefly and The LA Complex. It also stars Victor Garble from Legends of Tomorrow. My Thoughts- Some parts of this can be absurd, but it is overall an interesting show. I give this three out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- It has already been renewed in Canada. If it doesn’t last here, that’s another story. Where to Find- On the CW at 8/7 Central on Sundays

East New York: Show Description- This is a cop drama set in East New York which is something that the show annoyingly says a whole lot. Behind the Scenes- May the wrath of Shebo descend upon you. My Thoughts- It is a pretty good show and I like it. I give it four out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- It seems like it will last for now. However, there is reason for concern since the promos are showing what tweets say instead of what critics say which is normally a bad sign. Where to Find- On CBS at 9/8 Central on Sundays unless delayed due to football or other reasons

Quantum Leap: Show Description- A continuation of the classic show of the same name and set in the same universe as a result, a man leaps through various points in time into various people in order to fix their lives and try to get back home. Behind the Scenes- As stated before, this is a reboot of the show of the same name. My Thoughts- It is a good and interesting show. It better resolve what was left unresolved in the original. I give it four out of five stars. Long Term Prospects- It seems likely to last for now, but we’ll see if it does given its horrible timeslot that I can’t remember what lasted in it most recently. The Ten Worst Episodes of 2021

While I have covered a lot of the best episodes of television in the past, I’ve decided that it is now a good idea to cover the worst of television from the previous year. There are ten that I’m going with this time around. I don’t know if I’ll go with more or less in future years.

 

#10 Celestial Body (Debris): The last episode of this show left too much unresolved in the end. I don’t know why shows do that sometimes. While it was hardly one of the worst series finales, it was bad enough to earn its place on this list.

 

#9 Ariana Grande & Blake Shelton versus Kelly Clarkson & John Legend (That’s My Jam): I think that this type of show would simply work better instead as just random segments of The Tonight Show instead of just a random and meaningless competition show that has no purpose in the end.

 

#8 My Mother, Myself (Our Kind of People): This was the only episode that I saw of this plotless show. The fact that I still have no idea what this show is about after having seen this episode proves just how bad that it was.

 

#7 1999 (Queens): While a lot of the pilots sucked in the 2021-2022 season, this wasn’t nearly as bad as some of the others that you’ll see on this list, but it was pretty dumb. It sought to reunite a girl group from the 90s with all of their current issues coming to light at once. It didn’t work and lots of people didn’t watch it since it was clear that it didn’t have any quality content to it.

 

#6 Plus One (Call Me Kat): Here’s another horrible pilot. I’m not sure if multi-camera comedies are on their way out, but this is more of the reason why they should be since a show that’s unfunny is only going to seem way worse with laughter in the background. A lot of star talent on this show is wasted on such terrible material that just does not work.

 

#5 Repo/Wepas Geri (The United States of Al): The potential goodness of this show didn’t last long as it took me being behind on shows to not just get disinterested in it right after the second season premiere had happened. The plot focused on what seemed like Al stealing cars for a living when he was doing legal work possibly? It was hard to tell and make sense of a lot of it. But it could have focused more on the aftermath of the fall of Kabul, but didn’t.

 

#4 Chapter Ninety-Eight: Mr. Cypher (Rivervale): While I could pick the entire Rivervale arc to be among the worst episodes of the season, it was this episode, where Satan convinced people to sell their souls to him, that was the most absurd of the whole arc.

 

#3 I Want You Back (The Big Leap): The worst of all of the pilot shows in 2021, it is hard to say just how bad this episode was. I don’t watch to watch more of a series that is like this. It mocks reality shows while trying to appeal to them. It has horrible lines like, “[this guy’s] finally gay!” And there was just so much wrong with any and all of the subplots that there was absolutely nothing in here that could keep me into a second episode like this.

 

#2 The Last Weekend (Prodigal Son): While there was a lot of this show’s sophomore slump to put on the bad episode list, the last episode was the pinnacle of terribleness in regards to this show. It can represent almost perfectly everything wrong with a show’s final episode. It had a cliffhanger ending, focused on something largely unrelated to the entire series, and just overall failed every other way. I don’t know just how much worse this episode could have be.

 

#1 Watchdog (NCIS): As a long time fan of this show, it is absolutely horrendous that this episode exists. This show largely does good episodes still, but this one doesn’t so much suck just because of how bad the episode was but because of how important it is as a key episode of the show marking a turning point into the series setting up the ultimate departure of Gibbs. Could there really not be something better that he could cross the line with than dead dogs relating to animal abuse? And the rest of the team was briefly in trouble as well. I hate everything about this episode and cannot think of a worse thing to have aired the entire past year.

 

That’s all that I can think of relating to this blog post. There are some recurring posts that I feel need to be done sooner rather than later. We’ll see when or if I get them done in the end. I still need to do the best and the worst of the decade relating to the 2010s. And I have no idea just when I’ll get to the cancelled shows of this past season. I know that I’ll need to cover new shows at some point in time. So you’ll have a lot to look forward to over time if I can get it all done in time.

The My Pillow Boycott: 2022

If the title of this blog post wasn’t any indication, it should be a warning of this post’s content. This will be a more political post in nature than most posts of this blog. But I’m posting this here instead of any of political blogs as it affects more of my TV world than anything else.

 

You see, conspiracy theorist, Mike Lindell, still has his company of My Pillow that is still being promoted on TV. It is kind of annoying that he still has a platform that I can see his ads on. While he may not be able to promote his company on any TV show, I’ve decided to stop watching any show that promotes his company. He shouldn’t be able to have mainstream shows on network TV still promoting him.

 

Before I get to what shows currently have been affected by this thus far, I should explain my relevant late night show watching history. I shouldn’t still be watching them due to how late they air on TV with my job early in the morning on weekdays. Thanks to my mother, I largely started out watching The Late Show with David Letterman. This is partially how I wound up getting into The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson afterwards. Both of those shows were my primary late night shows.

 

I wanted to get into other late night shows potentially for when I had seen the primary one. I wound up liking Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. But I didn’t like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. I made Jimmy Kimmel my secondary at that timeslot, made better when Nightline and his show switched timeslots with him only getting an advantage on Mondays after an evening college class.

 

After Jay Leno left The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon became my third choice of host at that timeslot. Of course, certain shows may get more priority only due to CBS coming in better making me able to actually watch them. Plus, when Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show, he would have a lot of guests that I’d want to see or other episodes that I felt were more relevant. While I did get into Seth Meyers and his version of Late Night with that show even becoming my primary show after the departure of Craig Ferguson as host of The Late Late Show, I came to realize that I just didn’t like Seth Meyers as much so I gave him up. I always preferred James Corden anyways.

 

When David Letterman stopped hosting The Late Show, it only seemed fair for Jimmy Kimmel to move up to primary, Jimmy Fallon to secondary, and Stephen Colbert was the third choice. Meanwhile, my back up to James Corden would always be Nightline on ABC. The pandemic screwed up the ABC and NBC schedule a lot for that summer. I even watched A Little Late at times when that was on, but she isn’t relevant for this blog post.

 

Anyways, it was Jimmy Kimmel Live that was the first show affected by this boycott. He had done some segments making fun of Mike Lindell, but his show still decided to promote My Pillow. It was one of those rare times where a commercial gets me to change the channel, this time to Jimmy Fallon. While I have seen parts of Jimmy Kimmel after this, I largely have stopped watching that show with The Tonight Show now my primary show at this timeslot and The Late Show now the secondary one.

 

It was later when I was watching The Late Late Show with James Corden when the show also did a promotion for My Pillow so I stopped watching that show right then by turning the TV off and then I wound up going to bed. I have seen a whole episode of his show since then, but largely just watch Nightline now instead of anything else. Will I get back into his show now that he’s ending? Well, that is worth covering later in this post.

 

While I’m unsure how much of my facebook habits I want to make public, I do have this thing where I want to replace certain things. For instance, anything that I might have shared of James Corden that shows up in memories when I check it will have two replacements: something from The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and a Jordan Keppler segment from The Daily Show that I only know about from it being on YouTube. I also will replace anything shared from Jimmy Kimmel with something from Jimmy Fallon instead. Now I’m not sure why I’m using the term replacement since I’m not actually going to get rid of any of these things. I will have to explain more about what I’d do with other late night shows I wind up not watching if that were to happen in the future. I will unfollow any of them on facebook.

 

There haven’t been that many other shows affected thus far in this boycott. I gave up a CBS local morning news show. I could give up this news source again as I have before (also for political reasons), but I won’t yet if I will at all. I’ve also seen My Pillow promoted on reruns of The Andy Griffith Show which is also affected as I have select episodes of that on DVD. The only other show that I’ve seen promote that thus far is He Haw. And I hadn’t even seen a whole segment of that, much less a whole episode. Who knows what else could be affected? I plan to keep track of more in the future, unless this winds up being it in the end.

 

You might wonder, how this could affect other shows such as ones that I blog about? How would this affect any and all of my blogs? Only my TV blog would be unaffected as it isn’t about a single show. I would stop blogging about Elementary, although I’m not sure how I could see it on TV again, even if it is in syndication. Although, I guess anything could wind up being on My Network TV. That blog would have a farewell post and then I’d be done with it indefinitely.

 

If it was Survivor that promoted this product, I wouldn’t do any random posts anymore outside of the ones on dead players and only do blog posts on the current and already promised or ongoing old seasons of the show. I wouldn’t get any old seasons of that for myself again, although I would still watch what I have and could get even after I’ve seen it the one time that I have. If that show were to end, then that would mean a lot less posting until I’ve finished with all of the old stuff that I want to and stop doing that blog entirely.

 

The CSI franchise covers a lot. While I blog about both CSI: Cyber and CSI: Vegas, I also plan to start a blog on Without a Trace having the first season of that on DVD and now I’ll need all of them. The other shows in the franchise that also air at times in syndication that I plan to blog about are CSI, CSI: Miami, and CSI: New York. If any single one of them promoted My Pillow, that would prompt me to stop doing the CSI: Cyber blog, only blog about CSI: Vegas until the end of the show before stopping it, and not do any other blog in the franchise that hasn’t already started.

 

Then there are the more complicated ones. While I haven’t mentioned anything about it yet, there might be a subset of political blogs that I do at times starting soon, be it possibly this year, or sometime soon in the next. Regardless of if that happens, there will be something that starts before the one on Madam Secretary ends. That blog would be changed to purely political until it ends with there being a lot of blogs in its place and the one on Madam Secretary would come back after an extended hiatus.

 

Lastly, the blogs that I have on The Good Wife and The Good Fight would also both be changed into purely political blogs until they can be phased out and replaced. Only in this case, they wouldn’t be updated again. I still have only seen the first season of The Good Fight and this would ensure that I would never blog about any other season of that show.

 

You might wonder when any of these boycotts could end. Indeed, I don’t even know which shows may not be affected by it for whatever reason as I can always talk about that in future blog posts. It only has to be one of the following in order for me to give up the boycotts and start watching any of these shows again. Note that I plan to see the last episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden regardless of if I’m still doing other boycotts by then or not.

 

Here are the things that could happen: 1- Mike Lindell dies. 2- My Pillow goes out of business. With it no longer being a company that could promote itself, then there is nothing to boycott. 3- Someone other than Mike Lindell takes control of the company. This person would obviously also not have to be an election denier or otherwise loony. 4- Mike Lindell renounces his conspiracy theory ways. I’d love it if he sees the light. This would be the best and most ideal of all of them.

 

While I’m sure that some people reading this just think that I’m some libtard taking part in cancel culture, I don’t believe that people like Mike Lindell should have the platform that they do and don’t want to take part in anything that promotes him. I hope that I’m not mean and am certainly not wanting him to die. I could just be happy without any of these things again. But I thought that I would let you know about this since this does affect TV for me.
